Health Crisis: Accept what you cannot change!
Mostly severe mixed hearing loss in the left ear: is what the report in my hand read. I could not help but smile remembering the times when people were irritated with me for asking them to repeat. At times, I wasn't sure if: I wasn't interested in the topic being discussed that I deliberately missed it or I really had a hearing problem! 'That's fine if I don't hear trash which can affect me' I would always exclaim!
I went to one of my favourite cafe, brought some cakes.
After a while, it started sinking in! I wondered what the doctor would say!
A infection in my right ear is what took me to a doctor. He checked my reports and said, the problem in my left ear had been progressively developing for a while now. He suspected it could be a hereditary disorder called 'Otosclerosis'. I said : 'Oh yes, it could be consanguinous, my parents are relatives'. I am on client calls for hours, using a headphone: could it affect my ears I asked him. On knowing am a psychologist, he asked me more about my practice and I got all excited about sharing what I do! 'What you do is interesting yet difficult' - he exclaimed!
I mourned over it for an entire day, cried my heart out. Then, accepted it!
I have been through worst phases of life which shattered me to pieces, I wondered if any lesser mortal world be able to even tolerate it and every-time managed to put it all together, to be rising to glory. How then, can I let this affect me. In the worst case, I might have to wear an hearing aid. Most people are already addicted to a Bluetooth anyways, I might as well rock that piece over my ears with my ever gleaming smile 😇
I always knew I am a rare individual. Now I also get to know, I might have a rare disorder: now does that make me more unique, I wonder 😍💃
