The Health Management Academy Announces Winners of the First Consumer-Centricity Awards Among Leading Health Systems
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – The Health Management Academy, a healthcare executive convening and peer learning organization, is proud to announce the winners of the Consumer-Centricity Awards. This first-of-its-kind recognition spotlights leading health systems that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to delivering outstanding experiences to consumers.
The Consumer-Centricity Score is an annual evaluation conducted by The Health Management Academy’s Strategy Catalyst research team to assess and honor health systems across the nation that prioritize the needs and preferences of patients who are self-scheduling appointments. The score is based on a comprehensive assessment of various factors including Timeliness of Appointment, Ease of Transaction, Consumer Preferences, and Pre-Care Pathway.
After a rigorous evaluation process, The Health Management Academy is delighted to present the following winners for their remarkable achievements in consumer-centric healthcare: Atlantic Health System, Sharp HealthCare, and UnityPoint Health.
These winners have set an exemplary standard in self-scheduling capabilities by exceeding expectations and placing the consumer at the center. They have demonstrated a commitment to meeting the unique needs of their patients and fostering positive experiences.

“In our efforts to focus on the consumer, this report was such a welcomed deep dive into how patients engage with an important access point – self-scheduling. The amount of detail was exceptional and allows us to focus on some areas of opportunity. I’ve shared widely with our teams, and this will help shape our future work,” said Chris Cornue, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Cone Health.
The winners were honored at a private event alongside leading health system strategy leaders held virtually on June 22, 2023. The event recognized the specific efforts of each health system to deliver exceptional customer experiences in self-scheduling.
“Our member health system Chief Strategy Officers value patients and place them at the center of the user experience,” said Robin Brand, Executive Director, Member Insights. “My team’s work to evaluate the consumer-centricity of health system self-scheduling capabilities equips strategy leaders with concrete data to assess, improve, and advance digital access—a vital component of the customer journey.”
