Health is Wealth
If earning is lost then nothing is lost. If physical health is lost then something is lost. But if mental health is lost then lots is lost, and if character is lost, then everything is lost. So, they say. Am not even referring to the spiritual health. Indeed, it is difficult to measure the spiritual health, and it is easy to mention that one is spiritually healthy.
Last week, there were two developments that are related to one’s health. One is ofcourse Dhanteras, the auspicious day to invest. Wives want Gold and Husbands want to invest elsewhere. The fact is that material investments can take you only to some distance ahead in life. It can protect you against some events. But if you are hit by mental illness, then God bless you. The first ones to shun you are your own clients. The next are suppliers, debtors, friends, colleagues…. Not necessarily in that order.
Shree Dhanvantari’s birthday is celebrated as Dhanteras. Shree Dhanvantari who is the God of medicine and God of Ayurveda. Unfortunately, his birthday these days is celebrated as a wealth-day and not health-day. Yes. Instead of accumulating health one tends to accumulate wealth.
The other event that occurred was related to health, mental health to be precise. With family around, no amount of work pressure can unsettle you. What better day than Diwali day to observe this. Family is not only your wife, children, parents and siblings but also include your friends, neighbors, clients, suppliers, partners, associates, etc. infact all of them who give you peace of mind is a family, according to me.

Everything associated with Diwali like the rituals, stories, new clothes, crackers, sweets, pujas, etc. serve the same purpose: peace of mind. Don’t be too disturbed by the large number of greeting messages on the WhatsApp. Family size differs with different individuals. Only those who consider you relevant will send you the message. I do not think that they expect anything in return. It is fine by them if they do not get a thank you in return also.
The purpose for writing this blog is to highlight the point that good family life is a good antidote for all troubles. If the family life is healthy, then your mental health is good which leads to good physical health. And a healthy person can achieve anything he/she aspires and sets sight on.
So, enjoy with your family the great time this Diwali.
Happy Diwali!
