Helping Our Neighbors with Hearts for Kindness

As we kick off 2023, we are excited to support local nonprofit, Hearts for Kindness! Based in Concord, NH, Hearts for Kindness was brought to our attention by Stephanie Chabot. We love their mission and focus on giving back. In fact, 100% of their funds go back into the Concord-area community!

In 2022, Hearts for Kindness successfully fulfilled over $35,000 in assistance requests. They also collected and shopped for Christmas gifts for a total of 16 kids over the holiday season!

However, between the holidays and challenging winter months, the small organization sees a significant rise in requests around this time of year. LeMay Family Goodworks was happy to contribute so Hearts for Kindness can continue helping local families.

About Hearts for Kindness

Hearts for Kindness was founded in 2014 by Brenda Perkins, who had felt for years that she had a calling to give back to her neighbors in need. Brenda understands what it’s like to struggle and need help to get back on her feet, having been a single parent facing difficult times. That’s why she was driven to create this initiative and spread kindness to others who need it most!

Today, the H4K team promote community and hope through:

  • Acts of Kindness: These bring people together within the community, from financial assistance requests of up to $250 to activities like knitting scarves to distribute in the community.
  • Limited Financial Assistance: H4K fulfills requests of up to $500 per individual/family for emergency expenses, like utilities, rent, car repairs, and medical needs.
  • Community Calls to Action: Sometimes, they ask the public for help via Facebook and email with fundraising or collecting items like new and gently used clothing for children, baby items for a new/expectant mother, home goods for a homeless family moving into an apartment, and items for Concord’s Homeless Resource Center. H4K also organizes projects for local kids to teach them about giving back to others.

All financial assistance requests, no matter the amount, must be submitted by a third-party verifier, such as a doctor, counselor, teacher, or social worker. Acts of Kindness (up to $250) are available to individuals and families throughout New Hampshire, while financial assistance is available to those in: Concord, Penacook, Boscawen, Webster, Loudon, Chichester, Epsom, Pembroke, Allenstown, Bow, Dunbarton, Hopkinton, and Contoocook.

H4K offers immediate support for certain items and issues that are often difficult to find financial assistance for, such as vehicle repairs.

They’ve also helped a family get a special fence for their yard so their young child, who is blind, can play safely outside. Another time, they bought a special bike and helmet for a little boy with a disability so he could play with his older siblings and neighborhood kids.

The list goes on and on, and there is always a need—hence why H4K is always searching for ways to raise funds and awareness for their local community!

If you know someone who could use a helping hand, please learn how to apply for assistance with H4K.
