Her Children Are Gone - Is it too late for America? Part 2

Her Children Are Gone! – Is it Too Late for America?

Lamentations 1:5 Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions; her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.

The Lord destroyed Jerusalem for the persistent rebellion of the people led especially by the priests and prophets. The city was destroyed as were the walls and the temple. Many were killed and almost all those remaining were carried off into captivity. The majority of those deported were eventually absorbed into other nations. But most tragic was the loss of her children.

The Lord had protected His people many times. In the days of Jehoshaphat, three kings who came against Judah destroyed each other leaving only their goods behind. In the days of Hezekiah, the world empire Assyria lost 185,000 soldiers in one night when God sent one angel to destroy them.  No one would believe that the Lord would withdraw His protection, but He did. The last kings of Judah were all wicked after king Manasseh practiced idolatry, murdered the righteous and rejected God until God said that there was no remedy. Even good King Josiah was not enough to turn the tide – his sons and grandson were wicked. Eventually Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon ruled Judah for 20 years, but the last puppet king, Zedekiah, rebelled against him. After a siege, the city was burned, the temple and the walls were destroyed, and the country was plunged into slavery.

Today we see the attacks on America, and especially against her children. The educational system has been revising their curriculum with the promotion of critical race theory and transgenderism. We have been killing our own children through abortion, with the loss of over 60 million babies over the last 50+ years. Lawlessness and violent crime are increasingly prevalent. The false gods of materialism, historical revisionism, and evolution are replacing Biblical values. Respect for authority, especially parental authority, respect for police, and respect for property are rejected. Our educational system and governmental agencies attack the family, claiming their rights over those of the parents to educate our children. Those who believe the Bible are vilified and silenced.

What happened to Judah and Jerusalem when they rejected God?

1.     She lost her greatnessLamentations 1:1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people? How is she become a widow? She that was great among the nations.

2.     She lost her friendsLamentations 1:2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among all her lovers, she hath note no comfort her: all her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.

3.     She lost her rest: Lamentations 1:3 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction and become of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen; she findeth no rest.

4.     She lost her happinessLamentations 1:4 The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts, all her gates are desolate, her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

5.     She lost her childrenLamentations 1:5 Her adversaries are chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions; her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.

6.     She lost her beauty: Lamentations 1:6a And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed…

God disciplined His people, destroying Jerusalem and permitting His people to be carried off into captivity for 70 years because of their sins. Many attribute America’s greatness to God’s blessings, but we are foolish to think that God will not discipline us if we continue to reject Him and His rule. One of the great tragedies in America is that we are threatened with the loss of our children, who are our heritage the hope for our future. We need to repent. We need to build our lives on Biblical principles so that our walk reinforces our talk. May God help us to come back to Him!

PSALM 85:6 WILT THOU   NOT REVIVE US AGAIN THAT THY PEOPLE MAY REJOICE IN THEE.There's an ongoing prayer for Nigeria as a whole...; it's a chain prayer of 50,000,000 people.   Say the prayer and pass it on to others._"Oh Lord, our God Almighty, Mighty are Your  miraculous works. We stand in awe of Your Holy Name. Lord, we bow in prayer for our nation, asking that You, please, forgive us and revive our nation, rekindle Your deliverance over Nigeria and break the backbones of Satan and its agents storming  this country. Deliver Nigeria from the hands of greedy, selfish leaders and from terrorists. By your mighty power of resurrection restore Nigeria's lost glory. Make Nigeria great and habitable again for us all. Destroy the evil plans of the wicked ones in this country, in Jesus Name, AMEN._
