Here Is Why You Should Skip OnePlus 12 And Settle For 12R

OnePlus has three line-ups: Nord for budget, R for mid-range, and Number for flagship. Among them all, the R series is interestingly reducing the gap between the flagships. The same is visible with the latest OnePlus 12R. And, in my honest opinion, you should skip the OnePlus 12 and settle for the 12R.

The Goods About The OnePlus 12R (with comparison to 12 and 11R)

Although, the design looks similar to the OnePlus 11R, here are the goods about OnePlus 12R in comparison with OnePlus 11R and 12.

• Pricing is the same as the OnePlus 11R, INR 40k for 8 GB and 128 GB variant. If you are planning to buy 11R, skip it with the latest 12R.
• The fingerprint scanner position is better compared to last year's 11R.
• Performance of the phone is excellent with last year's flagship processor- Snapdragon 8 gen 2. And, you will be surprised that OnePlus 12R's throttle test graph is better than the One Plus 12.
• Brighter display which is 98% the same as One Plus 12.
• Out of the box Android 14 with 3 years of android updates and 4 years of security updates. You will get 1 year extra in each if you buy a OnePlus 12. However, 4 years of support is perfect at 40k price point.
• Skin tone is better in camera compared to One Plus 11R but lacks details during zoom when compared to One Plus 12. However, night pictures are surprisingly better in 12R.
• Good quality back cover in the box with 100 w charger.
• 5500 mAH battery which is better than One Plus 12.
• No wireless charging and for me it does not matter at this price range.

The Bads About The OnePlus 12R

OK, so everything is not Good about the latest OnePlus 12R. Here are few bads about the phone.

• USB type C 2.0 port (3.0 would be great)
• No UFS 4.0 storage type.
• IP 64 rating in the phone whereas phones like Motorola and Redmi are giving IP 68 around 30k.

Concluding Thoughts

I do not think that the Bads are too serious to consider while buying the OnePlus 12R. With every launch of R, the smartphone is closing the gap with flagship devices. From performance to display and camera, everything justifies the price. It will feel like a flagship device, for sure.
