When I was laid off my last job at 61 years of age, I thought that I was not a frump and I did not have dementia. I should be able to go get another job...

NOT!!!

Nobody wants you if you're over 60!!!

In fact I learned later that they don't want you if you're over 50!

Then as I started building my own business, I noticed that when I attended "sit down to breakfast meetings" 70% of those people there had grey hair or they were bald!

Oh! My! Gosh!

They were just like me...

Still needing an income!

It was there, just as I stood up to give my "elevator speech" that it hit me!

I could help these people!

I could help them with LinkedIn.

So when I stood up, I asked:

"How many of you here are on Facebook?" All the hands went up!

Then I asked...

"How many of you are on Twitter (X)?" About half the hands went up.

So then I asked...

"How many of you are on LinkedIn?" 3 hands went up in a room of 30 business people!!!

So then I asked...

"How many of you would like help with LinkedIn?"

Well...

All the hands went up!!!

Another "lightbulb moment"...

So then I said...

"Starting next week, I have two, 20 minute slots before the meeting and two, 20 minute slots after the meeting..."

$1 a minute...$20 and I'll help you get started setting up your LinkedIn.

Thus began my LinkedIn coaching career.

Most of the people who come to me for help with LinkedIn are over 50.

Guess what!

None of them are techie.
