What Is Hertz Rideshare Rental Car?

You must be an approved Uber driver to qualify for the Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Program. You can rent a Hertz vehicle from Uber’s Vehicle Marketplace.
Company Ratings
Before deciding to use the Uber and Hertz partnership, it’s important to understand Hertz company ratings to see if it’s a good choice.
In my Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Program review, I found that Hertz had an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau with 2,356 complaints in the last 12 months.
On Trustpilot, customers seem pretty satisfied, too, as they have a 4.3 out of 5-star rating. Most reviewers state the rental process was a breeze, and customer support was amazing.
How Long Has The Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Existed?
Hertz is one the oldest car rental companies with a 105-year history. They were founded in 1918 and have earned the reputation of being a legacy travel brand. Hertz has been partnering with Uber for the past five years to provide Uber drivers with access to vehicles at discounted rates.
How Does The Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Service Work?
As you decide if you should rent a car to make money driving for Uber, it’s important to learn how the Hertz Rideshare Car Program works.
It’s simple. You rent with Hertz and drive with Uber, but here are the nitty-gritty details.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Program, you must be at least 21 years old. But to qualify for Uber, you must have at least three years of driving experience. You also must have a valid driver’s license and debit or credit card and be in good standing with Hertz.
You must complete 30 trips weekly as part of your rental agreement, and Hertz will charge the estimated rental charges for the proposed rental period to your debit or credit card when you sign up.
If you want to rent a Tesla, you must be at least 25 years old, have completed 50 trips with Uber, and have an average 4.85-star rating, OR have completed at least 50 Uber Eats deliveries and recently become eligible for Uber rides trips, not just Uber Eats deliveries. However, this doesn’t apply to drivers in Massachusetts or NY.
How to Book
Hertz and Uber make it easy to rent a vehicle. Head to Uber’s Vehicle Marketplace, select Rentals, and from there, you can select your preferred vehicle type with Hertz and the location where you’ll pick up your vehicle.
Hertz requires a 7-day reservation and you can extend the rental weekly for up to 180 days without the need to call or visit a location in person.
Renting an Electric Vehicle
If you want extra perks and to be kinder to the environment, you can rent an electric vehicle through the Hertz Rideshare Rental Car Program.

Hertz offers a variety of EV makes and models at various price points. Everyone has heard me beat the drum on my own EV experiences, and the Hertz program is a great way to experience the benefits without the expensive hurdle of ownership.
The benefits of renting an electric vehicle include eligibility with select vehicles for Uber Comfort, Uber Green, and Uber Comfort Electric which drivers earn slightly more for. And, Uber has ongoing incentives in place that reward drivers for choosing to drive electric vehicles.
Of course, you’ll also save money on gas, but it’s important to know that the rental charges don’t include charging. However, both Hertz and Uber have partnerships with various charging providers that offer discounted rates to drivers.
Drive Electric Sweepstakes
Hertz and Uber have a limited-time sweepstakes called the Drive Electric Sweepstakes that will reward one lucky winner with one year of free EV rental and $25,000 cash. In addition, 10 winners will get green EV driving accessories, and three winners will get $1,000 cash.

7moIndeed we start off playing catch up. However, there was a method to the madness. Pre pandemic,a ride from Downtown SF to Santa Clara midday, paid the driver $90+. Post pandemic the same ride, same time of day pays $35. There is no more finding a method to this Madness

1yThanks for breaking this down! I briefly mentioned my experience renting a Hertz Tesla in my recent post. Although I’ve had a great experience renting in order to drive, it seems that the driver sentiment from online communities is negative. When you rent you’re immediately starting with a negative balance due to the weekly rental agreement ($300 - $500). This can take between 2-3 days to make to make up before you see a return for yourself.
