Hi! 🤩

Hi! 🤩

You may have read I started my 1% Better Letter last week - and it's taking off! Every Friday I share my top tips and insights that get you that 1% better. I believe in small changes, actioned regularly are the key to success in our industry.

Last week the focus was on Candidates and how we communicate with them.

Improving your candidate communication by just 1%—whether it’s sending more personalised emails, offering quicker feedback, or optimising your social media presence—can make a significant difference.

I wanted to share a snippet with you here - and see if I can tempt you to join me in my world! 🌍

In last week's addition, I shared how if you make slight improvements across email marketing, social media, and phone conversations these can boost engagement and loyalty from your candidates.

Read on to find out more on how to personalise those emails -

1. Personalising Emails: Stand Out in Their Inbox

Emails remain one of the most powerful communication tools in recruitment. But how often do candidates receive a generic email that looks like it was sent to hundreds of others? I know I get 100's of messages a week - and how many do I ignore? Most of them.

A small shift in personalisation can change how a candidate perceives you and your company. Here’s how to do it:

  • Tailor your subject lines: Make the subject line specific to the candidate’s skills or interests. For instance, instead of “Exciting Job Opportunity!”, try “Jenny, we’ve found a role perfect for your design skills!”
  • Refer to their experience: Don’t just rely on templates. Reference something specific from their CV, LinkedIn profile, or your previous conversations. Candidates will appreciate the effort and feel more valued. Making the message more bespoke to them will ensure it "speaks to them" and is more likely to be read.
  • Send follow-ups: Timely follow-up emails with a clear progression of the recruitment process keep candidates engaged and reduce anxiety about where they stand. No news is always news and even if you have nothing to report, candidates will always appreciate you keeping them in the loop. It shows you care, after all.

By making your emails more tailored and timely, you signal to candidates that they’re more than just a number in your database—they are being personally considered, which increases their loyalty and likelihood of remaining engaged with you and the process. We all get so many emails that are not tailored - so by doing this yours will really stand out.

I ignore so many emails every day - simply because I don't know the sender. If someone approached me and called me, I might actually consider buying!

🤩

So true, Ali! Personalising communications is key. In our region, the recruitment process is very impersonal, and I believe our personalised and responsive approach has helped differentiate us from other recruiters.
