As part of WSP’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and Annual Charity Plan we select a number of local and national charities that we can help through donations and volunteering days throughout the year.
WSP held a poll for its employees to decide which charity to donate to in December and a majority vote chose the Hinckley Homeless Group.
The Hinckley Homeless Group currently provides accommodation for 17-25 year olds in need of a home, the main house has 12 bedrooms and the group has another 3 bedroom property which is used as a ‘move on’ property which helps residents to become more self-sufficient before moving into their very own home.
Residents are assigned their own project worker upon arrival and receive support and advice on finances, cooking, education and work and regular help with their laundry and their shopping for the duration of their stay which can be up to 2 years.
The house Manager, Lisa, said, “We receive young adults from all different backgrounds, some have come out of the care system, some are bereaved, some have suffered a family breakdown, we are here all year round to help them with whatever support they need from us.”
