Hiring Across Generations: Finding The Right Talent For Your Business

Hiring Across Generations: Finding The Right Talent For Your Business

When hiring employees, it is particularly important to choose the RIGHT people for your team, as they can make or break your business. That’s why you should leverage the expertise of both Millennials and Gen Z.

But first, what are the two generations?

In a sense, Gen Z was born during the tech boom (between the years 1996 and 2012) and has grown up in the cradle of technology.

Millennials, aka Generation Y, are those that were born between 1980 and 1996. Being born during the early stages of technology, they are fairly experienced in IT, but where they truly shine is through their experience as they have been in the workplace for longer than their younger counterparts.

Let’s look at their individual benefits within the workplace

You have access to a diverse range of experience and knowledge when you hire Gen Z or Millennial employees. Each generation brings its own distinct set of skills to the table.

Millennials

Millennials are very open-minded when it comes to innovative ideas. This can be especially beneficial if you are looking for new ways of working or helping employees understand the value and needs of projects. They are also able to bring a fresh perspective and energy into the workplace, which can benefit both you as an employer and your employees. Millennials are also good at multitasking; they can often do multiple tasks simultaneously and still achieve reliable results. This is helpful for employers who need assistance with several different projects or tasks.

Millennials are more mature and less likely to be negative or frustrated by setbacks—they are more likely to see challenges as opportunities for learning and growth; a quality born from their experience.

Gen Z

Gen Z has been raised with technology from a very early age; therefore, they know what makes technology tick and how it can be used effectively. They also have more experience with social media platforms, which means they can collaborate with younger clients more easily than their Millennial counterparts. Gen Zs are also more open to change than Millennials. Having grown up in a world where technology is constantly changing and improving itself, they understand that things will not always stay the same. This means that they are more willing and able to adapt easily to new challenges and embrace change as it comes rather than waiting for it to happen naturally.

Both generations, together…

One of the biggest things that makes both generations so compatible is their age. There is a lot of age overlap between the two, which means there is a lot of opportunity for collaboration and productive partnerships.

Both Gen Z and Millennials are always looking for ways to improve themselves by learning new skills or improving their knowledge base; a highly sought quality by any business.

The two generations are often described as being open to inventive ideas and more willing to challenge traditional norms than their older counterparts, who are often seen as more conservative in their approach.

Your business would very well thrive with a team that is a combination of productivity, and enthusiasm for life from both generations.
