History as a predictor of the future

History as a predictor of the future

A Hard Rain: America in the 1960s, our decade of hope, possibility, and innocence lost (Frye Gaillard, 2018) is full of nostalgia for those who were alive in the 60s but it also provides insight on current political and social issues that challenge the U.S.A. and its leaders.

The book weaves pinnacle historic events of the 60s, incorporates literature and music that served as backdrop, and provides some of the great quotes of the 20th century. My summary of A Hard Rain captures some of the key moments of this tumultuous time in America. These key moments are eerily reminiscent of the dynamics we see today; reviewing history may help us avoid the pain of repeating some of the mistakes of the 60s.
