#2 Leading the Future: Serviceplan Group Belux’s Vision for Modern Management

Nancy Delhalle, COO Serviceplan Group

At Serviceplan Group Belux, modern management isn’t just about keeping pace with industry trends; it’s about setting a course for innovation, inclusion, and impact. Recently, our COO, Nancy Delhalle, took some time to speak with PUB Magazine journalists about our approach to leadership, the values that guide us, and how we meet the expectations of younger generations. Below is an exclusive look into the discussion, alternating between Nancy’s insights and questions from the journalists.

PUB Magazine: What is Serviceplan Group Belux’s vision of modern and effective management?

Nancy Delhalle: “Our vision is rooted in trust, inclusion, innovation, and entrepreneurship. We draw inspiration from the concept of liberated companies, which emphasize purpose, impact, autonomy, and collaboration. We prioritize recognizing talent and competencies over seniority, encouraging teamwork, continuous learning, and work-life balance. These elements resonate deeply with younger generations, whose values align with the need for meaningful and flexible work environments.”

PUB Magazine: How do you address the challenge of managing a mix of generations in your teams?

Nancy Delhalle: “Age is not a skill. That’s why we proudly empower young managers at Serviceplan. Many of them are guided by senior agency directors and participate in a year-long leadership training program, followed by continuous support. Beyond training, we’ve created an environment where young talent can innovate and lead entrepreneurial projects. Our scorecard system, called CICC—focusing on Clients, Innovation, Cash, and Colleagues—provides a clear framework for success while promoting autonomy.”

PUB Magazine: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is essential in today’s world. What initiatives has Serviceplan implemented to make a positive societal impact?

Nancy Delhalle: “Our CSR initiatives are structured around three pillars: Ecology, Economy, and Social responsibility. Locally in Brussels, we’ve redefined our supplier policies to reduce our carbon footprint and adhere to ethical labor standards. Economically, our independent, partner-driven model allows for local decision-making and empowers team members to become partners in their agency. Socially, we focus on diversity and inclusion, working with specialized consultants and following a DEI certification process by Actiris. Additionally, to celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2024, we are supporting 10 pro bono campaigns for associations dedicated to making the world a better place.”

PUB Magazine: Which companies or leaders inspire you in terms of communication and management?

Nancy Delhalle: “I admire companies that embrace the concept of liberated management—organizations like Danone under Emmanuel Faber, Decathlon, and Buurtzorg. These leaders and companies take bold steps to create cultures of autonomy, transparency, and shared responsibility. It’s not an easy path, as it requires relinquishing control to empower employees. But in doing so, they create environments where natural leaders emerge and where innovation thrives.”

PUB Magazine: How does Serviceplan adapt its management approach to the rapid transformations in the advertising industry?

Nancy Delhalle: “As part of an independent group with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, we’ve embraced innovation at every turn. Our focus now is on integrating artificial intelligence into our operations, both internally and for our clients. Our dedicated AI Lab in San Francisco and Munich has already developed over 50 tailored AI solutions. Here in Brussels, we’ve appointed an AI Taskforce Leader to implement these solutions locally within the next year. This transformation positions us not only to meet our clients’ evolving needs but also to stay ahead in a competitive market.”

PUB Magazine: What practices do you believe best foster engagement and retention among younger talents?

Nancy Delhalle: “Younger generations value responsibility and autonomy. At Serviceplan, we trust them with meaningful roles and decision-making power from the start. Micro-management is avoided, while continuous learning opportunities are prioritized. Finally, creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace is key. Flexibility and respect are non-negotiable in fostering an environment where young talents thrive.”

In today’s fast-paced advertising world, Serviceplan Group Belux is not just keeping up—it’s leading the charge by embracing change and fostering a culture of empowerment, inclusion, and innovation!

#3 Optimists don't fear their plans.

Article by Philippe Fass, ECD Serviceplan Group Belux

Serviceplan. What a shitty name, people would say. Well, I tend do disagree. We have the best service to implement your big plans. Simple.

For fifty years, this plan to have a plan, which started in Munich, has been the driving force behind the success of the group. And when it’s applied with Übercreativity (the art of getting different expertises together to elevate the creative product), the destination is always success indeed.

This has been proven again at Eurobest just last week, with the incredible titles of: Agency of the Year, Network of the Year, Media Network of the Year and Independent Network of the Year! And we’re very proud to say that with our Gold (!) and Silver awards, the Belgian branch has been contributing beautifully to that success.

Now the question is, dear CMOs, dear clients, dear prospects: what is your plan? It's actually quite a confronting question. What do you wanna be remembered for? Where do you see your brand in 5 years' time? What does “Best Brand” mean for you? Or, as a copywriter put it recently to me: if your dreams don't scare you, maybe you're not dreaming big enough.

Feeling dizzy yet? No need. Because I'm sure we have a plan for you. Even in uncertain times. Especially in uncertain times. Believing that it is possible for brands to evolve and transform into the best version of themselves, that's what optimists do.  Yes, it takes a bit of a vision, innovation, a lot of creativity - and a plan.

Our plan is to establish yours, and to implement it together with you.  So, give us a call.  Because we love it when a plan comes together.
