An Honest Review of 2021 - We’re Not Running Things The Way We Should

Big Ideas That Will Change Our World in 2022 - PART II (See PART I)

This year has taught us many things. We realized that we can not do what we want anymore. There are forces of nature acting on us and they actually manage our lives - it’s not us running the show as we like to imagine. We're starting to understand this more, and it's nice to see because it organizes us, calms us and prevents us from going overboard.

We really need to start reviewing the past and looking to the future. Everything is in our hands. We need to adapt ourselves to our destiny, to our purpose.

Regarding international relations: The past year has taught us well. Countries such as India, Russia, China, United States, UK and a few others, will have to settle relations between them otherwise life can get very difficult and may even reach war. They appear to have learned from pandemic. It's important for us to keep track of what's happening in these countries because it will continue to affect the whole world, so it is important for us to know what is going on over there.

Regarding health: We see that there is a limit to the corona and the virus, and we'll probably figure out how to live with it soon. And even though all sorts of new phenomena will appear we will learn how to overcome them. But from time to time we become more and more understanding and agree to live with it.

Regarding the economy: China should pray that the US economy will strengthen, because then it will have a market to live off. If Americans close the market, that will be the end. Everything will collapse. And clearly this upheaval will be felt all over the world.

The message for 2022: The forecast is not optimistic if we intend to continue as things are now, and pretend that it's business as usual. We really need to start reviewing the past and looking to the future. Everything is in our hands. We need to adapt ourselves to our destiny, to our purpose.

Regarding consumerism: Another problem we will have to deal with is the consumer culture. We produce things that people do not need and the end result is that everything is thrown away. Producing the same things over and over again makes no sense. I do not have an exact number but we throw away about two-thirds of what we produce. And about two-thirds of the product costs goes to marketing and advertising.

Regarding culture: People are preoccupied with shopping from morning to night as if there's nothing else in the world and this cannot go on. We see how much debt there is in every country and the whole planet, it's all in debt. We are coming to such a crisis that it can only be solved in one way, either through a war that will destroy everything, or through learning. Learning & Development as we call it in the workplace, will help us change and realize that this is no way to live.

Regarding purpose: The troubles we see will compel humanity to contemplate what to do with itself. What to fill our lives with, what to do with this life. Obviously the economists keep give us all the wonderful silver linings of 2021, but for the average person life is hard. The harder life becomes for the masses, there will be no economy until it collapses altogether. This is another tough lesson we need to learn, how everything is connected to everything. The days of my home being my castle are gone. And this is good news and great progress for us as the human race. Now we need to learn how to develop it in the right way and leverage it for success. At the end of the day we're not here for making microchips but to advance ourselves to a state where we can truly build a meaningful life here.

The message for 2022: The forecast is not optimistic if we intend to continue as things are now, and pretend that it's business as usual. We really need to start reviewing the past and looking to the future. Everything is in our hands. We need to adapt ourselves to our destiny, to our purpose.

Thank you for this article Josia Nakash I reckon there are so many ''big details'' and ''small details'' that we would need to discuss not only here on LinkedIn. I would say that all governments, politicians and all the rich (not only the ones we know about), should be invited along with members of the public in certain meetings. For example, the World Economic Forum that takes place each year in Davos, Switzerland. Why we don't see members of the public like you and me for example at that meeting? It makes me wonder why. We can not build a better world when we don't know all the facts and what they are trying to do. Members of the public are hit the hardest by the problems so I reckon that they should be listened if we really want to find solutions to any of the problems of our society. You have mentioned ''purpose'' and ''meaningful life''. There is a phrase: ''Money is the root of all evil.'' Things will start to change when all the people will understand that greed is one of the worst things that could happen to us as humans. One day, each of us will die. People will remember us not for the wealth that we had, but for the good things that we brought in other people's lives. Denis Diderot, a French philosopher that lived between 1713 and 1784 said: ''Happiest are the people who give most happiness to others.'' If we would ask people on the street if they heard about this quote, I bet that not many people will admit they heard about it. Why we don't tell the kids in school about this types of quotes? It makes me wonder why and I think that we all know why. It doesn't serve ''the system''. We live in a society that teaches us to be selfish and divided. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
