Honoring Juneteenth: Message from Exiger's CEO

Honoring Juneteenth: Message from Exiger's CEO

Subject: Juneteenth Reflection | June 19, 2022

On behalf of the Global Exiger Family, we hope that all of our colleagues and customers in the US are planning to take some downtime, enjoy friends and family and use this holiday to reflect on the importance and indivisibility of American history and Black history.

Slavery is a scourge. A deep and almost mortal wound to the soul of humanity. Only 160 years ago, it was a perilous weight on our country that threatened the very idea that was America. However, with a clear and purposeful expression of The United States of America that we aspire to be, we declared Juneteenth, the day in 1865 that enslaved African Americans in Texas were told they were free, a holiday. I couldn’t be prouder of the America that honors the day where people were set free from such a grievous and brutal institution in our country’s history.

This day is about the hundreds of years of struggle, perseverance and achievement of all Black Americans. A day where we recognize and reflect on the wrongs that our country had to right, appreciate the people of all backgrounds that died to make us the nation we are today and commit to fighting to uphold dignity, respect and equality for all people regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability or genetic traits, now and into the future.

The spirit of America is captured in the Black freedom and equality movement, a willingness to change, to afford the individual the opportunity to thrive, to give us all the opportunity to succeed regardless of our station in life. I have been a benefactor of this spirit. This holiday is also a celebration of that spirit. And, this is the spirit that we aim to emulate with our mission at Exiger to make the world a safer place to do business and to stamp out Modern Slavery. Please recognize the contributions and history of all of our Black colleagues, friends, family, mentors, citizens and global community on this day of remembrance, reflection and celebration.

As you take some downtime, consider educating yourself about Juneteenth and its significance. Here is a link with valuable information on this important holiday. Also, this month’s DEI Newsletter contains additional helpful information.

One of my key goals as our CEO is to focus on continuing and advancing our diversity, equity and inclusion strategy. In the coming months, you will see awareness and action in this area.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Thank you for all that you do.
