Hope in a burning world

Hope in a burning world

The world is burning around us, chaos and war and gross violations of human rights.

Femicide and child suicide.

Greed, famine and earth’s wrath on us for our blatant disregard of her sustainability.

It’s the truth, it is suffocating and it sucks. Far from the toxic positivity the consciously ignorant insist upon – I offer an invitation of softening your transfixed on the inferno.

Just for a moment, hear this…

In addition to all of this chaos.

*There are kids being cured of cancer, from the unique treatment they receive when their Oncologists are able to understand and curate their treatment from the genomic level, Zero Childhood Cancer

*There are individuals who have established foundations raising hundreds of millions of dollars for cancer research and neurostimulation,

*A device has been invented to identify pain in non-verbal adults and dementia patients; reducing subjectivity in pain medicating and relying on data processing present, PainChek

*There is a Research Team at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) who have built the Australian Human Microbiome Biobank (AHMB) - the world’s most comprehensive collection of microorganisms from the human body. Microbial biobanks have the potential to transform practical medicine as we know it. Isolated microorganisms from the human microbiome— the foundation to creating new solutions to improve overall human health, both physical and mental,

*Theres a team at Project Spark, working to reverse the dogma of “once a spinal chord has been broken, it cannot be fixed”.  They are at the frontier of a non-evasive neurostimulation treatment option that (once approved by regulatory bodies) can be rolled out easily, safely and inexpensively, SpinalCure Australia

*There are people fighting (and beating) the health insurance industry against genomic discrimination – on your behalf,

*There’s a team whose goal is to reduce stillbirths in Australia by 20% by 2025, through their work in Genomic Autopsy studies. It’s the world’s first national genomic diagnostic approach to pregnancy loss, aiming to prevent recurrence, through genotyping for personalised medicine.

* Technology is being implemented into aged care facilities, detecting early signs of deterioration in the elderly, which often present subtly and involve a complex mix of biological, psychological, and functional factors. This technology changes the quality of life for those in aged care and assists with the pressures of those working in the industry. Telstra Health CRC

*There is a man who started a Parkinsons Research foundation 13 years ago – Shake It Up Australia Foundation for Parkinson's Research – its now in partnership with the Michael J Fox foundation. Its funded 79 Parkinson’s research projects across 23 institutes to the value of more than $30M. The founding directors have personally funded all administration costs of the Foundation, meaning 100% of every donation goes into funding Parkinson’s research studies,

*Groundbreaking research is happening at NeuRA (Neuroscience Research Australia), reframing everything we know about neurodegenerative diseases.

These miracles don’t happen through spontaneous combustion – its people who drive this. People whose lives are consumed by their work, who eat, sleep, breathe, cry and celebrate at gala nights the tireless work they do to make the world a better place.

I promise they exist. People who hold undeniable hope and take steps every single day to prove just how wonderful life is when we shift our focus onto the things that are within our reach for change, growth, improvement and evolution. The greater good.

So, if you’d like to feel a glimmer of hope for the future, I encourage you to divert your eyes from the fear mongering for 5 minutes and consciously seek out what these incredible humans are committed to!
