I first hated cancer when my Mom announced her diagnosis in 2002. She battled ovarian cancer for four tough years. She traded her earthly rags for robes of righteousness 16 years ago this month. I shared her story here. Since then, cancer has been relentless in the Marx family. My Dad. Two sisters. Me. I have the colored ribbons of skin, prostate, ovarian and breast cancer carved into my chest. I see them each morning. I think of each person and pray for a cure. It drives me and my career choices.

It was without hesitation that I accepted the nomination to serve on the Mary Crowley Cancer Research Board of Directors. Mary Crowley Cancer Research is a specialized clinical research center that offers access to new investigational therapies through the administration of Phase I and II clinical trials. Their approach is to rapidly advance the discovery of potential new therapies and positively impact the care of cancer patients in their lifetime. It is personalized medicine personified, with targeted therapeutics and groundbreaking research.

I join other respected professional and community leaders on the Board who support the mission of Mary Crowley Caner Research. We have a great CEO who was formerly the leader for El Camino hospital, one of the most advanced digital capable hospitals in the country. Our clinical and research team are amongst the most dedicated in the field. Every team member, from administrative to patient facing, are here because of the mission.
