The Hope in the Information Age

The Hope in the Information Age

It is a beautiful Sunday in the Manawatu and I am excited to share with you "The hope of the information age."

The AI revolution like many technological changes is imperfect but through collaboration , improvement and transformation is occurring in seconds. So, f I am excited to share with you the hope of the information age.

I continue to stand by inclusive green futures for human-centered AI and collaborative AI ( Human+AI) because with the ability to leverage the predictive, augmenting and analytical capability of GenAI, lies opportunity:

  1. Children and teachers can access, develop and deploy AI tools with a mindset that understands the implications of tools on diverse people and places. UNESCO shared AI competency frameworks to transform education and are counting on you and me to shape it, have your say.

2. Today's non-technical experts are technical enough or have been provided with enough accessibility to inform the improvement of safety in tech tools especially in the environment and health. Microsoft is sharing free opportunities to build ai tools easier and faster here. Go for it, maybe you will be solving a key problem today.

3. AI tools are available to all places through linguistic diversity so that they too can leverage technology to experience its benefits to shared economic prosperity.

4. Funding for innovators and research-to-innovator pathways are inclusive of all learners.

5. Government and intergovernmental institutions are prepared to leverage AI technology to streamline systems and processes to drive change. Check out technology careers at the World Bank.

6. We leverage the predictive and analytical capability of GenAI to avert climatic and biodiversity impacts that we are unable to address today because of information challenges. Climate Change AI Summer School has launched an opportunity for environment enthusiasts to learn about AI-use applications to inspire creative and innovative solutions in this space.

7. Factual information is treated as a public good and leveraged to battle misinformation on technology platforms.

In a growing information age, leaving no one behind requires addressing information challenges and leveraging information opportunities. Misinformation that draws from imperfect information is one of the many layers of bad decision-making in diverse scenarios in biosecurity: disaster response, immigration transitions, environment management, workforce development, biodiversity protection, health and safety, teacher-student relationships and rural development.
