United Parks Ordered to Pay in Suit
A jury in Florida has ordered United Parks to pay more than $5 Million to the family of a 12-year-old who was injured during Busch Gardens Tampa Bay's Howl-O-Scream (Tampa Bay, FL) in 2022. According to the lawsuit, the boy sustained an injury after falling off a trampoline in the park's Stanleyville Theater. The doors to the theater had been left unlocked during the Howl-O-Scream event, allowing the boy to enter and access the trampoline. The boy's family was also found partially responsible for the incident, limiting United Park's liability to 65% of what the jury determined to be $8.1 Million in damages.

U.S. Haunts & Events
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office has closed the case on the 13-year-old boy who was crushed under a tractor at Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride (St. Augusta, MN) this past October. No charges are expected to be filed in the death of volunteer scareactor Alexander Mick. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office listed the manner of death as accidental and the cause of death as blunt-force trauma to the head. According to a newly released report from the Stearns County Sheriff's Department, several employees expressed concerns over Mick's size and age - also saying that the boy was not always aware of his surroundings. One employee told investigators that on a previous occasion, she witnessed Mick reaching into the trailer from the side of the moving vehicle instead of the back as they had been trained to do. She also saw him reach for customers' feet near the trailer's wheels. Trailers did not stop along the hayride route; the trailer driver who ran over Mick said the cruise was set at 2.5 miles per hour. Mick was in the 8th grade at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School, where he participated in band, choir, robotics and soccer, according to his obituary, which states he was “kind, very polite, unique, creative, investigative, and saw the good in everyone.”
