Housing Across Borders: Global Challenges and Local Solutions
Dear Readers,
Thank you for your engagement with last week's edition. I am currently evaluating two formats: a comprehensive article versus a collection of brief updates on global housing news. Your participation in discussions and patience as I determine the most valuable approach are invaluable. Thank you for your continued support.
This week, I present five recent articles addressing critical housing issues worldwide:
Australia's Growing Housing Crisis
Australia is experiencing a significant increase in homelessness, with a 22% rise over three years. Even employed individuals are seeking assistance as services struggle to meet rising demands. Factors include a 51% hike in median rents since the COVID-19 pandemic and limited social housing expansion.

San Francisco's Approach to Homelessness

Hobart's Housing Crisis Summit
In Hobart, approximately 80 housing sector representatives convened to address the city's near-decade-long housing crisis. Discussions focused on transforming underutilized land and buildings into medium and high-density housing, emphasizing sustainability and affordability.

Scott Turner's Nomination as HUD Secretary
President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Scott Turner , a former NFL player and Texas state representative, to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Turner's previous experience includes running the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump's first term.
I have reached out to Mr. Turner on LinkedIn and hope to feature an interview with him on our podcast to discuss the future of HUD.
Implications of Trump's Immigration Policies on Housing
The incoming administration's proposed mass deportation plans could significantly impact the U.S. housing market. Deporting millions of undocumented immigrants may lead to labor shortages in construction, exacerbating the existing housing supply deficit and driving up home prices.
I hope these articles provide valuable insights into the multifaceted challenges and innovative solutions emerging in the housing sector globally. Your feedback is essential as I continue to refine the content to best serve your interests. You Lashondra Graves The Apartment Lady®️

1moHomeless is a problem all over the 🌍. Back home in Indianapolis I personally get out and help out in any way I can, food, get a family off the street, and if you're a veteran the proper resources to get your own apartment through their program. On a personal level When I came home from multiple deployments I was on the streets on my behalf. I had my own apartment at that time, I felt lost and couldn't deal with issues at that moment. This was years ago, that's why it hurts my heart to see anyone in this situation. What you're doing is Absolutely Amazing!

1moThanks for the valuable information you provide. I didn’t realize how this is becoming a global issue to be honest. I want to ask you if you can recommend any tenant groups? I’m still fighting my eviction given the illegalities of it. I actually used the app you developed to help me write a motion to stay pending appeal. I know it’s not ideal but it’s better than I could do and I can’t afford an attorney. But it might be good to see if any of them have any resources. I’m at the point of waiting for a notice to vacate and then I have to live in my car with my cat. Thankfully I’ve been getting better paying work recently but not enough to take care of everything.
