5 Music City Challenges to Crank Up Your Team's Performance

Approximately 100 new residents move to Nashville (aka Music City) every day. Businesses are expanding, buildings are on the rise, tourists are ever present, and optimism is in the air.

In recent weeks, I ventured out to capture five Music City observations on video. I'm no George Clooney and there are no Academy Awards in my future, but I think you might find these of interest.

Each video is short (two minutes), informal, and framed as a challenge to help you crank up your team's performance.

Challenge #1: Can you collaborate like Music Row (& the Honky Tonks)?

A look at Nashville's famous music row and the downtown honkey tonks teaches us about the benefits of 'partnering' with your competition. It doesn't have to be a win-lose world. Perhaps there is something your organization can learn from Nashville's music scene.

Challenge #2: Can you turn ordinary into extraordinary to surprise your customers?

We often hear about the need to delight customers. Take a look at one company that has done it extraordinary well. How did they do it? They took something ordinary, repurposed it, and made an amazing experience for their customers.

Challenge #3: Can you tap into the passions of your disengaged team members?

I'm not saying to turn the workplace into a hockey game, but there is something to be said for igniting the passion of your people. Sometimes it starts with looking at your own mindset and considering how you view your team members. 

Challenge #4: Are you building a career or business with purpose?

I invite you to consider your resume, your career, your business, etc. Ask yourself the question, "Am I building something worth building?" Hopefully this video will get you moving toward successful building, not just building for building sake. 

Challenge #5: Are you delivering messages that work?

Message that work make common sense, but they often aren't well practiced. Whether you are drafting an email OR launching an advertising campaign, cutting through the noise can be tough. This video looks at a message that gets it right and provides insights into why. You can download a tool to assess your messages here.
