How agile are you?
Since there is no unambiguous or helpful definition of agility, I would like you to offer my agile litmus test:
A highly iterative, customer-oriented approach for problem-solving.
If you want to challenge your current way of working, you could assess the three important elements of this litmus test:
- Iterative: do you use a repeating main (feedback) loop of learning. How fast can you complete this loop? What is your learning-potential? How are you using empirical data?
- Customer-oriented: the customers needs & (fixing) problems should guide your efforts like the north orients you with a compass. How do you improve customer satisfaction?
- Problem-solving: since agility is most fruitful in the complex-domain, you have to solve problems and be good at it. How many different problem-solving methods do you know? What thinking do you apply you understand the problem at hand?
Use this as a thinking tool for improving your way of working.
