How to Boost Your Ranking AFTER You Post on Social Media

How to Boost Your Ranking AFTER You Post on Social Media

You brainstormed ideas, adjusted your picture/video, wrote the caption, optimized the post, and pressed published. Now, it's time to sit back and relax, right? WRONG! Simply posting is not enough. There are tons of ways to boost your ranking AFTER you post on each platform.

Check out these must-do tips for what you should do immediately AFTER posting on each social media platform.

Facebook

Share it from your business page to your personal page: Let's face it -most people follow far more personal pages than business on Facebook. And with good reason, as the platform has become so overly saturated with inactive business pages. So, when you post on your business page, make sure to share the post on your personal page. This will get your content in front of your personal network and will likely yield higher engagement than the same post on your business page.

Respond to comments: Facebook's newsfeed, by default, is based on Top Posts, not chronological order. This means that the platform won't automatically show your new post to your friends unless it's considered 'relevant.' To prove to the algorithm that your post is worth ranking at the top of your followers' News Feed, respond to all incoming comments ASAP, especially when you post something new.

Pinterest

Pin 5-8 pieces of relevant content: Pinterest's algorithm decides how Pins are ranked when a user searches for a topic on Pinterest. And the app takes various factors into account when deciding this, a key one being domain quality, i.e., how the platform ranks the quality of your account. This ranking is determined based on your previous Pins' success, website clicks, Pins saved, and crucially - user engagement. This means that when users engage with your content, it boosts your account's quality in the algorithm's eyes, making it more likely that it will show it to additional users. And the best way to boost engagement for your own Pins is to engage with relevant content from other users! So Pin other user's relevant content!

LinkedIn

Share or repost an article: LinkedIn articles are a great feature and are drastically underused. But when users do post or share articles, the algorithm notices. Just make sure that the article is relevant, and don't go overboard with posting too many at once.

Answer incoming comments: Similarly to Facebook, LinkedIn is all about engagement, as the majority of users' feeds are based on their previous activity and relevance. In turn, the best way to boost your OWN content's ranking is to engage with other users. And by responding to incoming comments, you signal to the algorithm that you are very relevant!

TikTok

Explore the For You Page for 10 minutes after posting: A key part of TikTok's algorithm is based on who users engage with and how often. So, by scroll the For You Page after you post, you are actually helping the algorithm figure out exactly who it should show YOUR content to.

Respond to all incoming comments: By now, it might seem obvious that responding to comments is super important on all social media platforms. But this is especially true for TikTok because it shows that your post is active and has built up buzz, which the algorithm recognizes and puts on users' For You Page.

Instagram

Your Instagram feed is a collection of posts that the algorithm thinks you have a high chance of liking. The more it thinks you'll like a post, the higher it will appear on your feed. And it bases this estimate on your past behavior. This is super important to remember when you're trying to get your own post to rank highly on other user's feeds. In other words, what you need is engagement, engagement, engagement. And unlike the other platforms on this list, you need to diversify your engagement on Instagram. Here's how:

Stay online for 10 minutes after posting: Instagram tracks when users are online, but did you know they take this into consideration when ranking posts? So stay online after posting and engage with followers by answering all incoming comments, viewing/sharing others' stories, and maybe even following someone new!

Resist the urge to edit your post: We know it can be tempting to go back and make sure everything is perfect AFTER posting, but we recommend doing all this BEFORE hand. This is especially important on Instagram because when you edit a post, it signals to the algorithm that there might be something wrong with your content and that you're not fully confident in it, in turn having a negative effect on how the app ranks it in other user's feed.

Are you making the most out of your social media post? If not, go make a post and boost your engagement after!
