Over the decades of my marriage, I have opened a lot of broken appliances in my excitement to not only fix it but open and see how it worked. Sometimes I fixed it, sometimes I purchased a new one.

It's that nagging thought in your mind going, "What happens if I hit this button?" 🧨 while you're right next to your washing machine. As people, we’re naturally inclined to figure out the weird, the wacky, and, honestly, anything that seems like it could be taken apart with a screwdriver.
Curious folks are like the mechanics of daily life—constantly poking around, taking things apart, and figuring out how everything works. And nothing says “let’s mess around” quite like your reliable home gadgets. They’re totally digging into a microwave, thinking they’re about to discover something amazing. For sure, half the time it ends with pieces all over the place and a call to customer service, but you know, it’s just part of the fun.

While it is true that it is aggravating to see that you have leftover screws that "probably weren't that important," it is crucial to remember that this is all a part of the learning curve! It's possible that you won't wind up with a blender that really works, but at least you've solved the riddles surrounding its spindly bits. You've also learned that maybe, just perhaps, you're not made out for a future in engineering.
By engaging in this process of exploration and problem-solving, curious individuals can build a stronger appreciation for the design and engineering behind household appliances, and develop a newfound respect for the expertise and innovation that goes into their creation.
So, the next time you take a screwdriver, don't screw up! (Or at least try not to)
