How Breathing Can Earn You More Money (If that's what you really want!)
What's more valuable than gold, diamonds, your luxury yacht, top of the range Mercedes-Benz etc etc etc? 👇
👉Your breath. If your breath stopped for only a short time (let's say 3 minutes), you'd most likely and very quickly and gladly exchange all your most valuable material possessions for just one more breath. And if you didn't take another breath, you would very soon and inevitably die. How valuable to you would your material things be then?
So what? you might say. I'm breathing just fine now.
This is not something I need to be concerned about. I know how to breathe: I've been breathing for 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 70+ years and I'm doing just fine. And I need to focus on earning not breathing.
OK. I would say. But what about the times when you get anxious, stressed, or can't sleep, or you get nervous before a meeting, when panic sets in and you lose track of what you were saying in a vital presentation or meeting? What happens to your blood pressure and heart rate when these things happen? And then what do you do to calm down….glass of wine, beer, cigarette…?
Leaving aside the short and long-term health implications of the above, these things will most definitely impact the impression you give, not only to existing and new clients, but also to colleagues.
People are forgiving. They understand the effect that meetings, presentations, and (in some cases) even just casual conversations can have on a person – anxiety, stress, increased heart rate and blood pressure, sweaty palms, etc etc. These things happen. Right?
But it doesn't have to be like this.
The reason you get like this is because your body goes into fight or flight mode and activates your sympathetic nervous system.
But your nervous system can be hacked by changing the way you breathe. By learning and regularly practicing specific breathing techniques you can begin to control at will whether your body goes into a sympathetic fight or flight mode or stays in a relaxed rest and digest parasympathetic mode.
Being calm then becomes a matter of choice. You can choose to be calm by ensuring your body is in parasympathetic mode, and this can be achieved through simple breathing techniques.
But what about breathing making you more money?
Well, given the choice, would you do business with someone who stays cool and calm, or someone who is anxious, stressed, and sweaty? I know what my choice would be. Being calm instils confidence in those around you.
So, if people prefer to do business with those that are calm, and if breathing can improve your ability to remain calm, then by practicing the correct breathing techniques to induce a state of calm you are more likely to win more clients and so (if this is your desire) make more money to buy a bigger house, bigger car, diamond ring etc etc.
The most important thing here is to recognise that to improve (move from stressed to calm) change is needed. And one of the most effective ways to do this is through breathing.
I could list the benefits of different breathing techniques here, but you can quite easily find them online. Just Google ‘Benefits of Breathing’
But beware. Not all breathing techniques are the same. And there’s an awful lot of rubbish online that can do more harm than good.
Your breath is a powerful instrument and should be respected.
I practice pranayama breathing every day. I know the real benefits it can bring, and both the subtle and dramatic transformational change it can have on a person’s state of being, confidence, and overall health and wellbeing.
If you’d like to earn more money or simply want to reduce your level of stress and increase your happiness then send me a message ‘BREATHING’ and I’ll get back to you.
