How To Build Electronic Embedded Product.

Same was as a mother cooks food for her family. Here are steps that I have observed

  1. Check what family needs. Suggest your ideas and ask their choice.
  2. Check what is available What ever is not available order / get it from market (example - if you are in village and own cow/buffalo, you get milk and prepare curd, butter and ghee at home only, else get it from market or order online.)
  3. Build lunch, serve in clean and good crockery on a nice and clean sitting place with love and smile.
  4. Family members pitch in with their support.

Same way we build embedded products. As a fresher , you do not begin with high end product but start with following

  1. Think of pain points of your immediate family, friends, people you know.
  2. Plan for solution using your knowledge of electronics and micro controller.
  3. Talk to the potential user and verify if your solution will solve their immediate problem. Check if they are willing to cover cost of material/efforts. Give them estimated price. Do not worry if no one willing to pay upfront. Do get permission to try in their home/office/college.
  4. Build prototype. Install in your home/college/place where you have informal permission. Make a good presentable box and clean wiring.
  5. Show it to all concerned. Post pic on social media. Ask your family members, friends to repost. Nothing wrong in blowing your own trumpet.
  6. After it works for few days and people like it, ask for payment. Offer them a discount of 50%. Ask others to try and buy. Offer 100% money refund.
  7. Irrespective of the result/sales. Build next version.

Still not confident. No issue, work with a passionate embedded developer who also enjoy mentoring and guiding. Ask his/her ideas and suggestions and work under mentor.

Challenge - Unlike software only projects, hardware is complex and need lot more things than just laptop and internet.

Opportunities - As most of the people are chasing up firmware/software only jobs, full stack developers - hardware + software + building + installation are less and have more value.

Let me know your ideas - ideas that solve immediate pain points and have opportunity to be commercialized.

Here is one idea that I am working on - Check presentation on google drive

Hi Vinay sir, The idea is good and doable. However, cash and coins are the only option for anonymous payments. A customer would prefer that the purchase of personal care products remain private. Thanks,
