How To Build A Great Business In 2024

How To Build A Great Business In 2024

This year, I made a few smart, strategic changes that completely transformed my business from good to great. It wasn’t about overnight success, but rather implementing strategies that helped me scale more profitably and create a stronger foundation.

In this article, I’m going to share exactly how I did it, including two key changes I made that had the biggest impact. These are actionable strategies you can start implementing today to level up your own business. If you’ve been feeling stuck or unsure how to grow, this could be the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for.

Change #1 – Hiring Specialists Over Generalists

In the early days of my business, I hired generalists, people who could do a little bit of everything. They were great for getting things off the ground, but as my business grew past $100,000, I realized I needed specialists—experts in specific areas like marketing, sales, and operations.

By focusing on hiring A-players, people who excel in one area and love what they do, my business became more efficient and scalable. These specialists didn’t just help improve processes; they brought new ideas and skills to the table, which allowed me to double my output without doubling my efforts.

The Takeaway: If you want to take your business to the next level, consider bringing in specialists who can drive growth in key areas.

Specialists can solve problems faster and more effectively than generalists, which is essential for scaling.

Change #2 – Building a Team Culture, Not Just Hitting KPIs

One of the most powerful lessons I learned came from Jim Collins’ book Good to Great. I used to think that hitting sales targets and KPIs was the only thing that mattered. But focusing solely on results can create toxic competition and burnout.

Instead, I shifted my focus to building a team culture where collaboration and support are prioritized. When everyone is working together and motivated by a shared vision, results follow naturally. This not only improved morale but also led to better overall performance.

The Takeaway: Culture is the key to long-term success. Build a culture where people want to contribute and grow together, and you’ll see the results in your business.

Why Am I Sharing This?

Because I want to remind you that growing a great business isn’t about chasing numbers alone. It’s about hiring the right people, creating a supportive culture, and making strategic decisions based on data and expertise. If you’re not focusing on these areas, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity to scale effectively.
