How Can Self-Love Transform My Approach To Team Management?

I am a few days back from a 9-day silent vipassana and metta meditation retreat. When I practice meditation I am always learning about myself and how I am in relationship to the world. I am increasingly confident and more stable within. This is profound and powerful. With the right practices in place that are relevant for YOU, you can increase your level of consciousness and be that much more confident, clear and calm. With this inner power you are more able to grow and lead a high performing team.

I was 23, recently married, and vacationing at the Carmel Forest Hotel, a luxury spa hotel in a pastoral setting surrounded by forest. The hotel pampers its guests with delicious and healthy food and wonderful massages.

There was a lecture on Love ❤️, and I thought: AMAZING - I am definitely going…I can learn a few tips about that. (being recently married).

I went to the lecture, and I was astonished.

It was about loving ourselves.

I had always thought about loving others and paid little attention to loving myself.

The lecturer helped me to understand the significance of daily self-love and the importance of practicing it consciously.

My Journey of Personal Growth: Hacks for High-Performance Team Building

The problem is that life happens to all of us.

We have good intentions, but then we get busy with work and life.

I quickly got back into my corporate leadership role in high-tech. As a young mom, I was eager to give my energy and love to everyone around me, and too often, I felt like I didn’t have time for myself.  

One of these hacks is to love yourself and to practice self-compassion because you will err. 

Love has the energy of connection. 💫 Fear or anger is the opposite–disconnecting us from ourselves and others.

Practicing love for oneself in the corporate world means:

  • Understanding your values and being intentional about living them at work.
  • Showing up boldly with confidence and conviction.
  • Taking responsibility and care of yourself.
  • Growing your self-compassion muscle.
  • Remembering that work is not everything you do; when you are at work, you know your boundaries and stick to them.

My clients tell me that when they bring this into their daily work life, they walk around confidently, their colleagues want to collaborate with them, and they feel calmer.

If you’re unable to set healthy boundaries, you’ll feel frustrated and resentful toward your teams. You’ll want to micromanage everything, eroding any sense of work-life boundaries. Friction will build between you and your teams, colleagues, and maybe even with your family.

Ultimately, you'll become a shell of your potential self and lose the ability to create the positive environment that empowers you and your teams to thrive.

If you prioritize a mindset of self-love and self-respect among your teams, you'll successfully grow an ecosystem based on collaboration, respectful communication, and healthy boundaries.

And you'll be happier, calmer, focused, more productive, and enjoy life.
