How to choose euro cylinder length according to door thickness?

In market, you may have seen 60,65,70mm as regular sizes for euro profile cylinder and you may also seen 80,90,100mm length. So why there are different sizes?Today,we are going to talk about how to choose euro cylinder length according to the door thickness.

Generally there are 2 types of cylinder,Standard type and Offset type.

#Standard type means cylinder both sides are equal length:

60(30/30)mm,65(32.5/32.5)mm,70(35/35)mm.

#Offset type means cylinder each side is unequal length:

60(20/40)mm,60(25/35)mm,70(30/40)mm,70(20/50)mm.

Formula:Cylinder length=Door thickness + Escutcheon height*2 + 2*2mm

We need to +2*2mm (each side 2mm) because when prepare cut-outs for door lock, due to tolerance,it may be 1-2 mm left or right from center line.Ideally, after installation, cylinder and escutcheon is aligned on same height level.Usually,it is acceptable that cylinder is higher than escutcheon, but not exposing too much of the cylinder pins.

#Example 1:Door thickness 35mm,Escutcheon 9mm

Cylinder length=35+9*2+4=57mm,choose 60mm length

#Example 2:Door thickness 45mm,Escutcheon 9mm

Cylinder length=45+9*2+4=67mm,choose 70mm length

Hope above information helps.
