How to Create High-Quality Content?

Great athletes train 2-3 times a day for a long time before participating in a competition. Their fans only see the results of hard work. Content creators are in the same boat. They need to train so much before creating a piece of high-quality content.

Quality is 100% essential to your success in marketing. It’s what captivates viewers and motivates them to become customers.

How to Train Skill in Creating Content?

It may sound counterintuitive, but the best way to master content quality is by first just creating content for the sake of creating — not caring so much about quality.

Bruce Lee famously said: "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

After writing 100 articles or filming 100 videos, even if the output is not great, you still acquire confidence and experience by doing rather than learning. Consider it your “content training.”

If you dislike the quality, leave it on your laptop or delete it if you want, but I prefer to post on social media because it keeps your pages active. In addition, social media platforms provide an excellent job of recommending or ignoring content because of engagement with the first users who have seen your content.

The most critical element is the consistency of creating content. Try to create something every day, or several times a week. Keep a strict schedule.

Two Elements Push You Forward

Stephen King famously said: "If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things that I'm aware of, no shortcut." This is a great tip to keep in mind if you choose to focus on your writing.

If your goal is to create video content, watch a lot of YouTube or TikTok videos to see what content is resonating with viewers and generating solid engagement.

Drawing? Practice drawing pictures for Instagram and Pinterest and check out content from other great designers.

Enjoy the Process

“Never give up” is nonsense advice. If something is not working for you and causing you undue stress, it’s fine to know when to give up and move on to something else — or maybe to adjust your approach so content creation doesn’t become a dreaded chore.

Creating content should be like a hobby, where you enjoy living in the moment and love the experience of growth.

Set Realistic Expectations

Do you want to get 10,000 subscribers on YouTube? Of course. But when aiming for that number, set up achievable deadlines for achieving such success, planning small goals spaced out over a few weeks or months. Focus on creation over metrics. Setting your targets too high will result in increased frustration, making you more likely to quit.

When you start a new journey, the initial rush of success is normal, but reality often discourages us from moving on if our goals seem too far out of reach. In content creation, the main problem is competition with other content creators with more experience and a loyal audience.

Remember that success in your metrics will take time, and that there may be some lulls or plateaus along the way.

Focusing

In 2020, I decided to grow my network everywhere: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and then TikTok.

Unfortunately, that was a big mistake — I’m just one person. I can’t be expected to jump from platform to platform and be the master of all of them. Especially with platforms that are so different, it’s just not possible.

My best results were around 5-10 followers a day, a few hundred views, and a few likes and comments. Then I changed tactics by focusing all my attention on LinkedIn — my results shifted to 200-300 followers a day, +10,000 views, and increased comments and likes.

Instead of figuring out how all social media algorithms work, I paid all my attention to LinkedIn users. I was fine with occasionally repurposing content, but that also takes time and provides low results without engagement and proper promotion.

Focus on a particular platform or format. For example, short videos might work for YouTube shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels.

Create High-Quality Content

After you’ve had some experience churning out practice content, put your energy into crafting a masterpiece:

- deep research

- valuable insights

- something new and unique

- editing

- design

- web development.

This will give you a feel for what a high-quality piece of content will demand, and will give you a better idea of the process. You’ll be able to work quicker with more practice, so don’t worry if your initial attempts feel like they’re taking a while.

Outsourcing Specialists

Let's imagine you need high-quality content for a website or social media but have no time or wish to acquire experience. That's okay. Almost all my customers pay attention to developing and innovating their products instead of creating content.

You can find content creators who may be willing to contribute, thus freeing up your time to focus on the content you excel at. However, hiring through job boards can be time-consuming and it’s difficult to vet the applicants. There’s a more efficient way.

First, search on Google blogs in your niche; e.g., the best weight loss blogs, crypto blogs, or sports blogs. Then, collect all authors in one spreadsheet. Luckily, many blogs have authors' pages with all publications. I use the Scraper, Chrome Extension, to get URLs of all their posts.

The next step is using Batch Analysis from Ahrefs , a paid tool. Next, you can find authors who wrote articles in your niche with SEO traffic or a proven record. Find these authors on LinkedIn and search for their emails with RocketReach. The final stage is to reach out to them with Buzzstream or similar tools.

Here is my template:

Hi [First name],

I like your articles on [website]. So valuable. A good job. Thanks for helping me and many others.

Would you like to write for my blog [your website]? Let me know your price and other conditions.

I'm going to keep reading and enjoying your content.

Best,

Anatolii Ulitovskyi

Use the same approach on YouTube if you want to cooperate with awesome YouTubers with proven records.

Conclusion

Consistency in creating a quantity of content brings a new experience that helps to improve the quality in the long run. Find a format you’re comfortable with, practice creating such content for social media to drive engagement, and then when you're ready, focus your energy on creating the best content for your website.

If you’re short on time or looking to diversify your content, outsource authors with a proven record.

Let me know in the comments what methods you use to improve the quality of your content!
