How To Design Your Ideal Life (with free template).
I’ve worked with successful entrepreneurs for over 20 years and noticed a recurring theme: the support of a partner and family.
I've helped some to create a framework to ensure that the family was all on the same page and rowing in the same direction.
A 2-page Family Life Plan has been a game-changer, ensuring home and work harmony.
It’s like your Family’s North Star ⭐️ .
Book time with your other half and your kids (if they’re old enough) this weekend to create your own Family Vision/Action Blueprint (FVAB).
It’s fun, energising, and can be hugely powerful.
Here’s how to do it…
1. Your Family Vision
Core Values
Ask yourself:
“What values are most important to us as a family?”
Travel, learning, adventure, giving back, fun—what else?
Aim for 3-5 and write them all down.
Passions
“What are our passions?
“What do we love to do together and/or separately?”
Ten Year Target
'What is our perfect life 10 years from now?’
Describe in rich detail your ideal life 120 months from now.
Have fun, discuss, and debate, then agree on what it looks like and write it all down.
Lifetime Wish List
Now's your chance to really get creative.
What are the things you want to do, the places you want to visit, and the experiences you’d love to have?
Nothing is too crazy, and nothing is off the table.
You should have at least 10 items and up to 100!
3 Year Picture
Now, it’s time to bring it into closer focus.
Get specific about where you want to be 3 years from now.

Write down the precise date and get specific about what it looks like.
2. Action
Ok, hopefully, you’ve had a lot of fun creating your future family vision.
Now, it’s time to build a framework to make it happen and map out your plan of action in detail.
One Year Plan
What do you need to do as a family over the next 12 months to ensure that you are on track towards your ideal future life?
Projects - Next 90 Days
This is where the rubber really starts to hit the road.
Your actions over the next 90 days will determine your likelihood of achieving your long-term vision.
What are the key actions, steps, activities, or projects you need to get done in that time to ensure you’re on track for the year?
Write down the target date, list the required actions, and identify and agree on who will be accountable for completing them.
Issues List
What are the challenges, obstacles, and problems that need to be resolved for you to make progress?
Write them all down, and then prioritise and discuss how they can be solved.
Don’t bite off more than you can chew; focus on the top 3 most important issues you’re currently facing and start to work on them.
Add more to your Issues List as other challenges inevitably arise.
Review Your Plan Weekly and Track Your Progress
A weekly review to track progress, celebrate milestones, and solve issues is critical to the success of your Family Vision.
You're good to go.
Now, you're no longer aimlessly wishing for better things in the future; you're taking proactive steps towards achieving the most important things for you and your family.
Good luck!
