How to Develop the "I'll Figure It Out" Mindset?

How to Develop the "I'll Figure It Out" Mindset?

What's the difference between someone who achieves their biggest goals and someone who stays stuck with permanent potential?

Let me tell you the four most powerful words for achieving anything in your life.

Four powerful little words:

"I'll figure it out."

Those four simple syllables are the launch code for an unstoppable mindset that demolishes obstacles and propels you toward your wildest ambitions.

The Hard Truth

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that count." - Winston Churchill

Let me tell you the hard truth: you will only have some of the answers upfront when you are pursuing something important. You will learn that there will always be some unknowns, skills to learn, uphill to climb, problems to solve, and curveballs to overcome.

You can either let the uncertainty paralyze you with self-doubt or inaction, or you can embrace an "I'll figure it out" attitude that turns challenges into exciting problems to solve.

Developing the Mindset

Now we know that what we need. So how we can develop an “I’ll figure it out” mindset? But before that let’s figure out what means this.

Developing this mindset means:

  • This means letting go of the need for perfect timing or conditions
  • Replacing "What if...?" fears with "So what? Next!" (My Favorite)
  • Viewing every mistake and setbacks as a chance to learn from
  • Maintaining a beginner's mindset of curiosity over criticism
  • Focusing on the next step versus the entire staircase

With "I'll figure it out" as your mantra, you allow yourself to be imperfect and find solutions through trial and error. It's an invitation to embrace the unknown with resilience and creative problem-solving.

Contrast with Procrastination

Contrast this with those stuck, endlessly researching and over-analyzing instead of acting, waiting for the "perfect" plan, skills, or circumstances that may never arrive. Their fears become Permission Slips for Procrastination.

But you?

You're going to figure it out as you go.

Let’s Take imperfect action,

Let’s make course corrections, and

Let’s remain resourceful in finding a way over, under, around, or through obstacles.

"I'll figure it out" are the ultimate words of self-empowerment and possibility. When you wholeheartedly adopt this mindset toward your biggest goals, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.

Steps to Develop the "I'll Figure It Out" Mindset

Every time someone asks me how to develop this mindset, I give this fine blueprint.

  1. Start Small Begin with manageable challenges. Tackling smaller problems builds your confidence and problem-solving muscles. Each small win reinforces your "I'll figure it out" attitude.
  2. Reframe failures as valuable feedback. Each setback contains lessons that propel you forward. Analyze what went wrong, adjust your approach, and try again with newfound knowledge.
  3. Practice Resilience Develop mental toughness through consistent effort. When faced with obstacles, remind yourself of past successes. Build the habit of bouncing back stronger after every setback.
  4. Stay Curious Cultivate a relentless curiosity about how things work. Ask questions, explore new perspectives, and seek out diverse knowledge. A curious mind finds creative solutions where others see dead ends.
  5. Take Action Move from thinking to doing. Imperfect action beats perfect inaction every time. Start before you feel fully ready – you'll figure out the details.

Practicing it every day will help anyone to develop these skills.
