How did MrBeast get 100M subscribers in just 15 months?

MrBeast makes YouTube look easy - he consistently makes entertaining uber-successful content, his content receives millions upon millions of views, and his subscriber count increases at an extraordinary rate.

In June 2022, MrBeast (aka Jimmy Donaldson) became the second-ever individual creator to hit 100M subscribers. And, last week, he managed to double that number - racking up over 200M subscribers (and almost 2B monthly views). As the CEO of Night and MrBeast's manager, Reed Duchscher put it, "It's crazy to think that [Donaldson's] first 100M took nearly a decade, and his 200M milestone came only a year and a half later."

But, how did he do it?

Duchscher shared 5 factors that contributed to MrBeast's success:

1. Multilingual: Over the last year, MrBeast "fully dubbed his content in more than 15 languages for international viewers". This dramatically increased his viewership because more and more people around the world could enjoy this content.

2. Content that appeals to a wider audience: Along with dubbing his content into a variety of different languages, MrBeast also focused on making content that "appealed to a broad global audience". In the past, MrBeast mostly created content that would entertain the average American viewer (taking place within American borders), such as Last to Take Hand Off Lamborghini, Keeps It and I Put 1M Christmas Lights on a House (World Record). But, over the last 15 months, MrBeast has changed up his content strategy and created more videos that appeal to viewers pretty much anywhere around the world, like 7 Days Stranded at Sea, Every Country on Earth Fights For $250,000, and $1 Vs $250,000 Vacation!

3. Consistency: In the past, MrBeast uploaded one video a month. But, over the last 6 months, MrBeast has been sticking to a more consistent uploading schedule as well as posting a lot more videos. To put things into perspective, in 2022, MrBeast uploaded 8 videos. During the last 6 months (April to October), the uber-successful creator uploaded 12 videos.

4. Grew outside of YouTube: Jimmy Donaldson is consistently emphasizing the importance of keeping up with new social platforms, understanding the algorithm, and not depending on just one income source. And, he proved all these points. MrBeast's TikTok and Instagram profiles have grown dramatically. It's important to note that he uploads different content to each one of his channels - that is a lot of content creation.

5. Teamed up with celebrities: One of the best ways for creators to boost their social image is by partnering with famous figures everyone knows and loves. Since June 2022, Donaldson has "incorporated well-known celebrities into videos who appeal to all ages: Tom Brady, The Rock, Jay Leno, Cody Ko, and Miranda Cosgrove."

Not only has MrBeast cracked the code (obviously with extremely hard work) and is continuously nailing the 'content creator' occupation, but he along with Reed Duchscher enjoys sharing their expertise in order for other content creators to also succeed. But, keep in mind - MrBeast has been working towards this goal (and all the other milestones he's already surpassed) for over a decade - literally blood, sweat, and tears - so, all that to say...don't quit your day job just yet in the hopes of becoming the next MrBeast.
