How do I travel and work so much?

This is a frequently requested question of mine. And it's a lot easier than you think.

To begin with, I work remotely, but I also have a wonderful life-work balance, so I usually have lots of time to have fun and travel.

If you think this lifestyle is too far away from where you are today and that it is impossible, you are mistaken. It is conceivable.

But where do you begin? Take everything one step at a time. Let me explain!

Do you wish to go on a trip? Consider what you desire.

I frequently have conversations like this:

"I wish I could travel as much as you do."

"That's fantastic; come with me next time!"

Then comes: Excuse number one, excuse number two, and excuse number three

If you're the "excuser," it indicates you don't want to travel; instead, you want to teleport to your destination, which is very different.

Travel requires a minimal expenditure in terms of packing, planning the trip, and driving the distance to the destination. You don't want to travel if you don't want to do these things.

It's fine if you don't want to travel, but there must be something out there that you'd like to try?

My most recent road trip in India was across the east coast, from Uttar Pradesh to Chattisgarh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and finally Bengaluru; it took two weeks! It was an incredible trip, but perhaps too much for the first time!

You can travel 50-100 kilometres from your home, book a hotel, and go. It's as easy as it sounds. There are several options and locations to visit everywhere.

You can stay for 5 days, including the weekend. Begin on Wednesday and continue through Thursday, Friday, and the weekend. This works nicely for part-time remote jobs when you can work from home for two days. It's amazing how quickly your batteries will be charged if you do this.

You must accompany the office

You must bring your office with you if you are travelling for two or more work days. But nowadays, it's as simple as selecting a laptop, phone, charger, and, in my case, a good pair of headphones!

That's the end of it.

What about the internet access?

90% of the sites you visit will have free WiFi. You can double-check it or call and request it.

But, because I move a lot and may require a good connection, I bring my phone with me and use it as a Hotspot. Also, because everyone these days has a dual-sim phone, I use two separate carriers to ensure that network connectivity is always available.

That's all there is to it.

If you like the idea, give it a shot first

Invest some time attempting and feeling your dreams; this allows you to see the complete picture, including the wonderful and bad and the bits that no one tells you about.

My life in a motorhome (my jeep) around the country is not only what I share on Instagram; there are other things that happen that are not as fancy as my Instagram account.

The luggage must be compact

If you require three suitcases and a backpack to travel for four days, you're carrying a lot of luggage. In my experience, mental weight is more important than physical weight; in the end, the car will transport you from one location to another.

If it takes one day to plan a four-day trip, you will never leave until you have spent twenty days of your vacation. This needs to be quick and simple. Leave with your backpack, some clothing, toiletries, and laptop.

You will need to work on your mental weight if you want to do this. Traveling should be as simple as possible; else, you will remain at home.

I always believe that if I had to leave my house in 15 minutes due to a major emergency, I will have enough time to get everything I need. How long will you be gone? Forever!

Laundries, the neglected ones

Don't forget that you can do a complete load of laundry for a small fee.

This will give you wings for longer-than-five-day excursions. Simply take 5 days' worth of clothes and clean them. The same as you do at home. I'm guessing you don't always buy what you're wearing? Use the same logic when travelling.

If you forget something else, similar principle, you will have lots of places to repair the situation, which you will tell your friends when you return.

I've acquired a lot of unique items just because I needed them for an emergency far away from home! "Bought this because, I was not able to do this there" adds a story to the journey as well!

Don't overthink it

Leave without saying "just in case." There are dumb just-in-case scenarios out there that your brain will exploit to justify not moving.

If we are not hungry, our brain is programmed not to move too much. It's a survival feature that we have. And it is this that keeps us thinking about all of these dumb scenarios, despite the fact that we are at home. Yes, you overcame your anxieties of three days away this time.

After you've done this three or four times, you'll understand how foolish it was to have all of these just-in-case scenarios in your head.

Conclusion

It is much easy than you think to travel while working. First and foremost, you must have a job that allows you to work from home at least two days every week. The tough factor here is you; if you haven't travelled much, it's not because (insert any excuse here), but because you haven't taken the car and gone away, to the beach, mountain, or wherever you want to go.

All I do is make sure that none of my team mates are hampered as a result of me, and I work while sipping drinks in a pleasant riverbank cafe.

I still get a dopamine rush whenever I get on the phone with someone and the first question they ask is:

What are your plans for today?

I have the ability to be anywhere in the globe, which I enjoy!
