How do leaders label their challenges?

How do leaders label their challenges?

I used to think this quote is true for entrepreneurs. I was wrong, this holds equally true for potential job opportunities as well.

In the past; a client wasn't sure whether he could take up a top leadership role or not for a startup. Incidentally, he was just doing a regular networking ritual that I had suggested to him continue for at least 12 months. Wherein he was to network with one global leader a week.

So, while doing his 27th-week networking meeting with a Turkish Investor and Startup Advisor. He got offered this opportunity. Rajesh (client's name changed for privacy) rushed to me and I shared with him this quote and he jumped on the opportunity.

Yeah, he could make it.

The opportunity could come with any label or name on it.

Be it in the form of

  • a challenge,
  • a triggering issue,
  • a pain area,
  • a sudden crisis,
  • a lead,
  • a proposal,
  • a potential growth project,
  • a professional assignment,
  • a job,
  • a transfer,
  • or literally, anything that helps you grow.

Adjectives don't matter, what matters is the OPPORTUNITY and your willingness to take it TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

It will help you step up your growth journey.

So next time, a new challenge comes up in your life. How about labelling it as an Opportunity?

I am blessed to have learned to embrace challenges in my life. With the sheer power of WILL, GRATITUDE, and GRIT, I end up transforming them all as opportunities for more growth.

Would love to know how do you label your challenges?

Yes Divya, this quote is well known and you do get inspired and motivated each time you read this. However, what makes you think is 1. How do you know this is a great opportunity? 2. What is pre-requisite to go and grab even if you feel you are not perfect fit..? 3. How does the other person finds you a fit and does not really look for prior similar experience especially in today's technology world. Happy to hear from you all.
