How do we create happy employees?

A happy employee is a productive employee. We shouldn't forget the fact that people are the most important resource in our companies. Without this resource, there is no business. So how can we manage this an effective way? There are a few things that are really easy to implement.

  1. Create an outstanding and comfortable workplace

A clean office invites new ideas to come. Wide big windows let the sun in and it is well known that people who are more exposed to the light are less predicted to have depression. Also, make sure to open the windows every day. All the time have new equipment into the office, comfortable chairs. New equipment is giving your employees the feeling that the company is evolving and they are not left with the dinosaurs.

2. Understand their needs

If one employee has a problem at home, you can be sure that he will stay all day long to think about that. I encourage you to send him home for two reasons: in the first place, he will feel understood which will create a long-lasting partnership and second, a worried employee can create more mistakes than usual.

3. Hire leaders with a high level of emotional intelligence or send them to a coach that can help them in this direction

A leader with a high level of emotional intelligence will have the expertise of reading people and emotions. Will know when to be firm or when to be understanding. This type of leader will adapt to different types of people and reactions. She or he will recognize easily human potential and will position people in the right jobs.

4. Create different advantages

Big companies nowadays are more competitive with extra bonuses for employees. Not only because they want to differentiate from other multinationals, but because there are other factors involved. An employee with health insurance doesn't have to worry anymore about the costs for his or his child health, which leads to a less stressed employee. Having fruits around the office increase the level of health results in less sick days.

5. Having a playroom

It is well known that companies like Google have entire rooms where employees can go and relax or play different games. Study shows that kids are full of creativity, also parents are more creative due to the fact that is exposed to children. Why is this happening? Kids are vivid for information, their curiosity for this world invites them to express themselves freely and their ability to play increase creativity. Besides when they do something they like, the level of serotonin increases and a happy employee will do less mistake then a stressed one.

6. Hire a coach or a psychologist

Life happens. Whether we want or not people break up, have loses in their families or encountered different hard times in their lives. An employee that is having a hard time is suffering. Having in your company such a resource is healthy for the well being of the entire business. Can help the employee in need to recover faster, be sooner to a high level and also protect the well being of the team. Suffering is contagious. Why not help out?

Do you see? You can have the best machines in the world, but if you don't have people to control them, your business is no business.
