How do you breakdown the digital divide(s) between ESG goals and supply chain, procurement, and finance functions?

Ultimately many (if not most) organisations operate in siloes where at best they share or collaborate verbally, in emails or by distributing spreadsheets ... all in a disconnected non real time environment.

Context is important and therefore disconnected or out of context information (or data) loses value and ultimately impact decision making.

So how do you break that disconnect or divide?

  1. Align goals and objectives: It's important for the various functions within a company to understand the significance of ESG goals (in fact any goals) and how they align with the overall strategy of the company.
  2. Connect! Share data and information: Sharing data and information across functions helps ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of the ESG impact of procurement, supply chain, and finance activities.
  3. Implement tech solutions: Technology solutions, such as ESG reporting and planning and sustainability management platforms (like Anaplan ... shameless plug here!), can be used to track, measure, plan, and report ESG performance across all functions (with context), helping to ensure that everyone is working towards the same goals.
  4. Collaboration and communication: Regular collaboration and communication between ESG (functions, targets, or measure), supply chain, procurement, and finance functions help ensure that everyone is aware of each other's ESG goals and objectives and that everyone is working together to achieve them.
  5. Continuous improvement: ESG is an ongoing process, and it's important for all functions to regularly assess and improve their ESG performance.

By simplifying those connects (so you don't get absorbed and lost in the data) breaking down the digital divide and working together, supply chain, procurement, finance, and ESG functions can create a more sustainable, responsible, and ethical organisation.

... and per my previous rants it's all about communication and context. (for me Context is (almost) everything)
