How far will Trump's grip extend on UK media?
Article Sketch - Our Trunpian Fifth Column
Despite a majority of the UK adult population actively disliking the President-Elect, there is a considerable part of the UK media backing the tangerine would-be tyrant. For reasons ideological, financial, and of pure personal advancement.
The Mail, Express, Telegraph, GB News, TalkTV, The Spectator etc all willingly bend the knee. GB News host Mark Dolan (former presenter of C4's 'Balls of Steel' comic prank show) actually called for a Trump-style 'Revolution' last week. More than a little phoney to these eyes, Dolan an obvious grifter in the vein of Paul Newman's Rheinhardt, a cynical drifter who takes a job as a DJ at conservative talk radio station WUSA (1970). Owned by white supremacist Matthew Bingamon (Pat Hingle).
Here's Dolan in his former Laddish, sub-James Brown (Loaded editor) incarnation:
And now as bloviating, spittle-flecked insurrectionary:

The BBC have a strong Tory clique at its highest echelons (Tim Davie, Robbie Gibb, John McAndrew and Chair Samir Shah, a former Bird myrmidon who bends to the prevailing political wind), and this, coupled with government pressure may see a lack of investigation into Trump's behaviour, adopting a studied neutral tone where truthfulness is needed.
The Tory-leaning sympathies of presenters Laura Kuenssberg and Fiona Bruce are well documented and obvious to many. There are others, slightly more subtle (Nick Robinson, Adam Fleming, James Landale, etc), but who still apparently prefer the 'Good Old Days' of Cameron/May/Johnson/Truss and Sunak.
C4 may still vaguely keep the fires of discontent burning, but hiring Boris Johnson for US election night was reprehensible in both its cynicism and complete lack of class.
But then Chief Creative Officer Ian Katz did tweet 'boring, snoring' about Rachel Reeves when he was Newsnight editor back in 2013, proving his boundless capacity for Johnson-style oafishness.

Vice News now counts for naught, Amazon (who did their own election night special) are spineless under Bezos and who watches ITV News nowadays?

1moNice one Stephen- that needed to be said. I gingerly got back on th ‘hopium’ and listened to sam harrris’ podcast. He took the defeat as an opportunity to decry trans and Gaza activism as to blame for the dems defeat. Then I saw that normally reliable Ezra Klein has Vivek Rama Swamy as a guest- I couldn’t face that - but it shows that even the left are shifting their Overton windows as if they never believed in being inclusive and caring in the first place.
