How to Find Hot Prospects on LinkedIn (No, Not Tinder Dates)

How to Find Hot Prospects on LinkedIn (No, Not Tinder Dates)

When I say "hot prospects," I’m not talking about swiping right.

I’m talking about real, business-ready leads on LinkedIn—the ones who actually want what you’re offering.

LinkedIn is a goldmine for finding these prospects, but only if you know how to use it. I’m going to show you six practical ways to uncover those hot prospects who are ready to do business.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re wasting time on LinkedIn with no results, I get it.

But trust me—these strategies work.

You don’t need to be a sales genius or spend hours every day.

Just focus on the right tactics, and you’ll start finding the clients who can transform your business.

I recorded this in full on a podcast, including more tips, but summarise some of the easier ones below...

1. LinkedIn Event Attendees: Easy Pickings

LinkedIn events aren’t just for learning—they’re for prospecting. Here’s the trick: search for industry-related events on LinkedIn, sign up, and check out who’s attending. You can even filter attendees by job title, so you know you’re targeting the right people.

The best part? You’re not cold calling. These people are already interested in your industry. Connect with them, build relationships, and see where it leads. You don’t need to come in with a hard pitch—just start the conversation. In my podcast below, I’ll tell you exactly how to approach these connections so they don’t feel like they’re being hunted.

2. Engage with LinkedIn Influencers' Followers

Think influencer engagement is just for Instagram? Think again. LinkedIn influencers have massive, engaged audiences—and their followers could be your next clients. By jumping into their comment sections and adding value to the conversation, you’ll get noticed by their audience.

Don’t spam the comments with self-promotion. Engage thoughtfully. Ask smart questions, provide insights, and start conversations. These aren’t just random followers—they’re active, engaged users who may be perfect for your services. Want to know how to do this without coming off as a stalker? I break it down in my podcast at the end of this article.

3. Profile Visitors: They’re Already Interested

This one’s so easy it hurts: check out who’s looking at your LinkedIn profile. These people are already curious about you—so why not reach out? Drop them a connection request and start a conversation.

No need to go full sales mode. Just ask if they need help with something you specialize in. If they’re looking at your profile, they’re probably already interested in what you do. In the podcast, I’ll explain how to turn these profile views into solid leads, without sounding desperate.

4. Active LinkedIn Groups: Targeted Lead Pools

LinkedIn groups are goldmines if you know how to work them. Find groups that align with your industry or your ideal clients. Don’t just dump content in there—get involved in conversations. Ask questions, run polls, and connect with the people who engage with your posts.

These groups are full of like-minded individuals looking for solutions. If you can position yourself as the expert in the group, prospects will come to you. In the podcast, I dig into how to use polls and group engagement to generate leads without coming across like a salesman.

5. Sales Navigator: Target Buyers with Intent

If you’re not using Sales Navigator, you’re missing out. The "buying intent" filter on Sales Navigator is a game-changer. It identifies companies that LinkedIn’s algorithm believes are actively researching solutions like yours. These are the people who are already in the market for what you offer.

Another gem? The "category interest" filter. It lets you find people researching tools or services in your industry. These prospects are warm—they’re actively looking for answers. In the podcast, I’ll show you how to use these filters to focus on the leads that are most likely to convert.

6. Sales Navigator’s Weekly Lead List: Let LinkedIn Work for You

Sales Navigator generates a weekly list of 100 leads based on their algorithm. While LinkedIn doesn’t share the exact science behind it, this list can be a treasure trove of potential clients. The algorithm is working behind the scenes to match you with people who fit your target market.

These leads have already shown interest in your industry. It’s a no-brainer to connect with them. Listen to my podcast for more on how to maximize these weekly leads and turn them into clients without wasting time on dead ends.

Don’t Overthink It—Just Start

Finding hot prospects on LinkedIn doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t need to be a sales guru or LinkedIn wizard to make this work. The methods I’ve shared with you are straightforward, and they’re designed to get you results quickly.

The truth is, if you’re worried about LinkedIn not working for you, it’s probably because you’ve been doing too much of the wrong stuff—trying to go viral or posting content with no plan. The key to LinkedIn isn’t fancy tactics; it’s about finding the right people and starting real conversations. That’s it.

Now, if you’re serious about growing your business, I’ve got even more insights waiting for you in the podcast below.

In it, I break down these six strategies in more detail, add a few more and show you exactly how to engage with prospects in a way that feels natural and leads to conversions.

If you want to start turning connections into clients, hit play.

I doubt this is valid anymore taking what’s going on LinkedIn and all its automation. Let’s take point 3. As an example. Probably visitors of your profile are automated to send you (automated again) request to later on network with you and later on try to sell you something. Change my mind :)
