How To Find Your 2025 Objective
Objective. I like this word. It’s clear and concise. You can only have one primary objective. All others are secondary.
When putting a plan together for your life or business, what is the primary objective for you? Is your primary objective to be better? Well, that’s not very clear nor concise.
In 2024 my primary objective was to run 100 miles under 30 hours. I spent more time on this than anything else. And guess what, I was able to achieve it.
During my training for it, I still worked. I still did what I had to at home. I still achieved other tasks. I didn't let anything get in the way of my training. Over my last training blocked of 157 days I missed 3 workouts total and I had a total of 3 rest days the entire time.
When you have a true objective that you are obsessed with, nothing will stand in your way. You must be enthusiastic about the goal. About what you are chasing. You won't be about the tasks to get you there. I know there were plenty of days I did not want to train. I did want to run 100 miles. I did want to finally finish that race.
Obsession is mandatory to achieve big goals. At the slightest inconvenience you will back down. You will run away. This why only a few achieve great things.
I see it all the time in running. I also see it in the Live Hard program. People don't make it through 75 Hard because they don't have the commitment. Folks don't run a marathon because they can't commit to the training.

When you set an objective, let nothing stand in your way. Let nothing get in your path. Because there will be obstacles. There will be times of hardship. There will be days you don't feel like doing what you must. Those days, those challenges are what separate the winners and losers.
I see it in 100 mile races. I've been one of those guys in the 100. Quitter. They quit on themselves when it gets hard. And usually it's a moment. A moment chosen to sit down too long. A moment when you didn't run even though you know you could. A moment that broke you and you went home.
The worst is when you see people quit in broad daylight. At a time when it hasn't even gotten that hard yet. When the sun is shining and the day is good. Not the dead of night when everything hurts. When it's gotten hard. When it's darkest before the dawn.
In racing, this is when folks quit. Don't let that be you in your chosen race. Because I can tell you that once you get to sunrise, life gets so much better. When you can see that finish line and you're on the back side to the finish line, it's a great feeling. You're rejuvenated. You can see the end and it gives you the life you need to continue.
In all aspects of life, we have these moments where we can find hope. Those moments are what keep you going. Big and small. The best folks I've met are the ones who get excited by the smallest win. Because they see that as the path to victory rather than the mountain they have left to climb. They see how far they've come and know that they are on the right path. Doing the right things. That gives them comfort. That comfort keeps them going.
Here's the point. Find your objective. Find what gets you excited and will keep you motivated towards that goal. Then let nothing get in your way. Get the help you need to get there and don't stop moving.
