How To Get Through Hard Times In Life
We all deal with hard times in our lives and while every situation may vary. Whether it be work, home, and social life, or internal conflict, they are all real issues that deserve to be seen and heard so we can then deal and hopefully move on.We don't need patchwork or quick fixes, we need ways to deal that will help us in the long run so if any other things come our way again we can apply them to a new situation.
The Little Things :-
All it can take is sitting down and doing one of your favorite things to completely flip your day. For me, it's eating my favorite snack or trying out a new face mask. Self-care is extremely important and is a huge part of helping you cope with everyday life, especially when you're having a stressful day, week, month, maybe even a whole year.
Having a bubble bath, listening to your favorite music or picking up that book you've been wanting to read. All of these things may seem like normal everyday stuff but how often do we decide to do something else besides taking some time for ourselves?
Unwinding can give you a chance stop your mind from going a million miles a minute and think about things more clearly after giving yourself some downtime.
Little distractions can do wonders as long as you're not using them as a way to avoid the bigger issue at hand. So go out there and take a walk, eat that doughnut or literally do nothing for a little and then stand up and tackle what's bothering you.
Talk To Someone :-
Talk to yourself, I do this all the time, something’s hearing everything out loud instead of just in your head can make things click. Everything sounds different when put into words and sometimes that's all we need but if you're still struggling after that find someone else. And this can be scary but so can be dealing with stuff on your own.
Talk with people you're comfortable with like a best friend, parent or a sibling. They know you and may be able to give insight into a situation you couldn't see because it is happening to you. Or if you don't need advice and just an ear I'm sure they'll be there for that too.
Unfortunately, we don't always have someone close to talk to or we feel like a burden when taking problems to others, so finding someone outside of your circle could be the way to go. Going to someone who has no preconceived notions or bias, who is simply there to help you, can make opening up and discussing what you're struggling with so much easier.
Now, we don't all have the money or time to go to a therapist but there are lots of resources to help with that. There are free options online. If at any time you feel like you're spiraling and need immediate help, please connect a family member, friend or healthcare professional.
Take A Step Back :-
This can mean a lot of different things. It could be as simple as taking a step back from a certain situation or social media, to something more difficult like a relationship, or if you're lucky enough to do so – your job.
Getting out and away from what is going on in your life can give you a new and fresh perspective, how do you do this? Step into the next room for a breather, take a walk, a hike, a car ride, sit and don't look at your phone, or hell, if you're able to take a trip…take a freaking trip, you probably need and deserve it anyway.
Now, I not talking about isolating yourself from everyone but if alone time is what you need in order to get your thoughts together to process whatever is going on then take that time but remember you're friends and family are there to help you, even when you don't want it.
And to be a total downer this could also mean giving something up completely, quitting, sounds scary but if you come to the conclusion that not doing something is the best thing for you…then don't do it! Long or short-term, sometimes walking away from a situation or person can be exactly what you need.
This step is probably the hardest one to do. Good or bad we have a connection to people and things and situations and getting away from it can be difficult even if it's not good for us. But if it's what you need and what is best for you and your life you might just have to make that decision to step away from it.
Surround Yourself With Positivity :-
This probably sounds easier said than done but it's really not. This is what I try to do, look on the bright side. You're allowed to be upset and feel angry at whatever is going on in your life. Don't let anyone make you feel as if you can't be upset. But, after a while, try to move forward.
Negativity will do nothing but bring you down and you won't be able to continue and get through whatever is happening. Surround yourself with people that make you happy and bring the best out of you.
Once you start letting go of the baggage that is making you feel bad you can start to heal and handle everything with a little more clarity. Create a happy place for yourself, decorate it however you want, make it somewhere you want to be and that makes you feel comfortable, safe and relaxed.
It may seem silly but put up those inspirational quotes you love so much from Pinterest. Looking at something every day that you connect with can do wonders and may give you that energy you need to either push through or let go.
Take these 4 things into account when you're having a rough go at it. Something just might work and it could be the easiest thing up there or it's possible none of these work for you but there's no harm in trying, am I right?
Depending on what stage you're at in your life, figuring it all out might take a while. And that's okay because some of us need a little extra time to get it together. Take help when offered, find help when needed, go at it alone when you're ready but don't ever forget that you're golden and you can handle it. Thank You. Take Care.
