How to Get Your Business Listed on Meituan[Part IV]
In China
Back in 2015, Meituan merged with another similar app named Dianping (大众点评), therefore nowadays, Meituan is also referred to as Meituan-Dianping. And although Meituan and Dianping still have their own separate apps, a lot of their features and functions are interlocked. So to list one’s business on either is like having it listed on both.
And the following steps shows you how to list your business on Meituan in China:
1. Download the Meituan app onto your smart phone, and get registered.

13. For the “State of Business License”, select “Already Obtained”. For the “Type of Business License”, select either “Legal Person” or “Self-Employed”. Enter “Registration Number”, “Name of Store” (as indicated on the business license). Tap “Attach Business License” and upload a photo copy of your business license. Enter the “Name of Legal Person” and “ID Card Number”.

14. Then tap “Attach ID Card”. Since only a Chinese citizen with a mainland China ID card is eligible to list the business on Meituan, any non-mainland Chinese citizen who wishes to list his/her business can only do so with their Chinese business partner’s identification.

(There is only the Chinese language available on both Meituan and Dianping apps.)
Outside of China
If your business is located in a city outside of China, there is still a chance that you can still get it listed, depending on whether such a service is available in that city.
And in order to find out whether your city is eligible for getting your business listed or not, an inquiry can be made by contacting their online customer service on Dianping app.
But then again, the Chinese language is the only option here, and Dianping does not have an international version yet, so help from someone who knows Chinese may be needed for such an inquiry.
And even if the city you are in is eligible for getting your business listed, no useful information is available anywhere as for how it is done exactly.
Therefore, WAYA Global got in touch with Meituan’s customer service, which in turn only gave us a very basic and scratchy instruction.
We have organized it the best we could and included it here below, and hope that it can be of some help:
1. Having the required information ready for listing your business: name of store, city of location, address, contact information, and an email address.
2. Download the Dianping app, or visit Dianping’s official website: www.dianping.com, and get registered.
3. Submit the required information to Dianping’s customer service through either the Dianping app or the official website, both of which only have Chinese version.
4. You will receive a call or an email from Dianping within 2 work days, informing you of further instructions.
However, if the city you are in is not eligible for having your business listed on Dianping, there is a way to secure a display area for your business on the app. Though it does not grand you any access to conduct any form of business on Dianping, it at least shows your business to Dianping users; and a comment section will also be featured under your business for anybody who wants to share their two cents.
And here’s how it can be done:
1. Download the Dianping app onto your smart phone, get registered.
2. Open the app, and the GPS should be able to automatically pinpoint the city you are in.
3. Tap the ellipsis on the top right corner.
4. A box then shows up directly below. Tap the middle one “Add Store”.
5. On the next pages that shows up, enter the store information as indicated: Name of Store, Type, City, Address.
6. Also on the same page, upload no more than 9 photos of the store; photos showing the storefront, the environment, the menu, or any highlights of the store are recommended.
7. Still on the same page, enter a maximum of 2 phone numbers of the store, business hours of the store, and how to get to the store.
8. After filling out all the information needed, tap “Submit” on the bottom for verification.
The verification process usually takes less than one working day. And after the information is verified, the store will have a display area on Dianping, anyone who search for it specifically or for the business the store is related in doing will be able to find it on the app.
And since anybody with a Dianping account can use the “Add Store” feature, not just someone with a business to run; and also since Dianping encourages its users to add new stores on Dianping by offering them extra points to level up their accounts, there is a big chance that your business has already got a display area on Dianping, whether you like it or not.
