You are about to read some of the lessons I learned from spending the last ten years coaching, mentoring, and training clients from all professional backgrounds and business owners from all market sectors. On this journey from being unknown to globally known, I realised how many small, medium, and sometimes large business owners mess this up.
Many business owners fall prey to many people offering services that promise a quick fix to grow their brand. Some clients I have coached have shared how they spend thousands of pounds on their logo, website and headshots and then can’t understand why none of it translates into revenue. They then spend thousands more on people offering google ads, social media marketing, and lead generation services and feel defeated and disheartened.
I don’t know about you; daily, I get automated and impersonal messages on LinkedIn promising to fill up my diary with appointments. Did I give it a try? Of course, I did. Did I get the results I wanted? NO. But I learned some valuable lessons that I now use to help others not make my mistakes.
Almost 99% of the people who message me on LinkedIn and other social media trying to sell me their services know nothing about what I do, my brand’s worth, my offerings, my price point, and the clients I serve. Occasionally, when I travel and have some free time on my hands, I like to inspire the very same people to self-reflect on their approach and invest in building authentic relationships with people they want to serve and help. Some are grateful and change their approach, and others are stuck in the toxic ideology of making quick sales and forget about your objectives.
Many of them fail to realise that customers are not influenced to buy by the bells and whistles. Customers are humans, and humans have a unique set of values and are wired to CONNECT, FEEL, and LOVE.
The best personal brands create an authentic identity that gifts their customers with an experience of belonging and growing.
To Grow Your Brands Worth is to realise it’s not only about you. You have to create your brand with the audience or your clients in mind. Whom do they want you to be? What would make them choose, trust, and work with you? How can you help them achieve their goals and grow their worth?
The first step in building your brand is knowing and understanding your audience. Put yourself in their place and figure out what they want, how they think and what motivates and inspires them.
The second thing you need to do is create a clear image of who you are as a person or personal brand so that your audience can quickly identify with it. This way, you will be able to create trust with people who might not know much about who you are yet but would still like to invest time into learning more about what makes up this 'image' of yours.
The third step would be to put the audience first - always keep them in mind whenever deciding about building up your reputation through multiple platforms (such as social media, TV, Radio, Podcasts, Magazines, Blogs, etc.).
Yes, your ego wants you to grow. It plays a crucial part in your development. However, it’s not about your one-sided ego. The focus cannot be on what you want for yourself but on what your audience wants from you. How can you serve them better? How can you help them get where they want to be most effectively and efficiently.
One thing that separates true growth-minded entrepreneurs, educators, and teachers from those just looking to make a quick buck is the ability to focus on serving others. Instead of focusing on what you want for yourself, try asking yourself, “what does my audience, client, or customer want from me?” It may sound counterintuitive at first, but this simple question can lead you in some very unexpected directions.
For example, a client I helped increase their brand’s worth amid the Covid19 pandemic was selling organic dog food. Now that the store was closed, they started to quickly spend the money they had made to build their eCommerce business. One of my existing clients recommended my coaching services to them. On our first strategy day, we looked at every part of their business together. They built a costly eCommerce store, yet they had minimal sales. What was happening was that most of the messages on their website, brochures, and social media were designed around how much their dog loved organic food.
They faced the truth that their ideal client doesn’t care about what their dog loved, but what is in it for their dog! They want something that tastes good and keeps their dog healthy. As a result, we spent some time figuring out how best to serve their ideal audience by finding out what they want from their pets' diet and then providing them with high-quality products that meet their needs and my client’s goals for profitability. Within a few months, they started to get consistent orders.
Before I renew any coaching program my clients have, I like to discuss the results they created up to that point in time and identify any other growth opportunities. It is this client-centred coaching approach that my clients benefit the most from. Having experienced a thousand per cent financial growth in our first year of coaching, it was a no brainer for them to sign up for my three-year total personal and business transformation program with a mission to go from one million to ten million pounds turnover.
To grow your worth, invest in a trustworthy, qualified and experienced coach who can unlock your worth and your client’s worth with whatever unique service you provide. The investment you'll make will pay evidence for the rest of your life.
I was lucky to be brought up by parents who were very caring, successful, and kind restaurateurs. They taught me that to grow the business’s worth, and one must realise it’s not about the money. To make money, you first need to care about your clients and their aspirations and develop a sincere interest in solving their problems. Dad constantly reminded me how we don’t buy things we need for the restaurants and the family from people we don’t like; why should they? They both loved cooking and creating delicious home-cooked food people craved. We never invested in any marketing; we focused on meeting our client’s everyday desire for homemade food. I can see how our customers were our marketing department that spread the word about our restaurants to their family, friends, and colleagues.
This advice has helped me start and grow my business to levels unimagined. The more I focused on creating phenomenal results for my clients, the more they spread my offerings to their network. I have used the same concept to assist other business owners in unleashing their brand and business worth.
One way to serve others and make money is from people you know and trust or whom you've done business with before. You can offer value exchange partnership deals that are beneficial for you both. That said, make sure you choose wisely whom you do this, as some are just there for what they can get from you and not for a higher purpose – serving others.
It is essential to have a brand story that resonates with your audience so that they want to work with or buy from you--and then tell it every chance you get!
At one of the events, I spoke to a group of property investors. I told a story about how I went on from living homeless, feeling alone, desperate and stressed, to graduating from one of the top five UK universities, building a successful information technology career, and purchasing my first property before I was 30. It’s not about how much time and effort it takes to grow your brand’s worth. In my Multi-Award-Winning book, The Unfakeable Code®, I share how authenticity and integrity are more important than your logo, website, or many hours spent on social media, even if you perceive it brings you no results.
Integrity is built by being consistent in your actions, behaviours, and the value you give to others for a long time. It creates high-quality content packed with value and interacts with your audience, not just sending them generic messages, updates, and e-mails. Is it time-consuming? Yes, it is. Is it worth it? Absolutely. So, don't give up!
Even if you are in the top 1%, it's still going to take time before you start seeing results, but always remember that integrity and consistency will pay off in the long run.

It’s not about being first at something (the first in your niche is probably BORING). Be brave to stand out and offer something unique, so people will remember you and share your content with their friends.
If you are the first to offer a particular product or service in your market, that’s great! But don’t expect it to get shared worldwide on social media just because of that fact alone. Most people won't even notice unless they know about the specific industry or niche you're operating within.
It’s not about doing something that doesn’t feel right. Trust your intuition and always stay authentic to yourself, even if that means going against the stream now and then.
Be unique. If you are not uncommon, no one will remember or care about you. Think of companies like Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon etc., which have built their brands on being different from others in their category (and often even outside of it). The same goes for individuals – don't try to be someone else just because they are popular at the moment, or it may lead to failure because there is no need for another version of them out there already doing what they do so well!
When I get asked, “Tony, what is unique about you and your brand’s worth?” I am in the habit of answering the question with a question that gives them the answer. I tend to respond something like this: “Would you like to spend 30 years being coached and mentored by 30 different teachers to get what you want, or would you prefer to spend three years with someone like me who has already done that for you and can get what you want much faster? Another one I use is: what price would you put on your health, happiness, or fulfilling the voids that keep you up at night? Etc.
When you know your offerings give a priceless value, your customer will know it too.
In leveraging your story and getting it in front of the right people through the proper channels, you can grow your worth. I published A Path to Wisdom in 2014, #Lonelienss in 2016, and The Unfakeable Code in 2021®; since then, I have authentically shared my story, lessons learned, and methodologies I crafted at TEDx, UN, and Business Stages, as well as in over 800 TV/Radio and Podcast channels around the world. My worth increased exponentially because my core offerings and books were created to give the client/reader priceless value.

While having a beautiful looking brand and systems in place is an essential part of growing your worth, it is not the complete solutions that help you magically attract only the right-fit clients you want to work with and can now choose. To activate the Law of Attraction and make it work for you, it is wise to do the inner work, so you become a magnet for the clients who appreciate you more and take up much less of your time!
If you have big goals for your brand this year and you’re tired of working so hard for minimal ROI, you’ll want to book a two-hour breakthrough consultation or a full day business strategy session. Working harder is a fast track to burnout and building resentments. There is nothing more frustrating than putting your work out there and hearing crickets. Or worse, working with clients who take up too much time, devalue your work and expect low fees.
A solid personal brand allows you to grow your audience steadily and establish credibility and influence. As a RESULT, charge what you deserve for the value you give to others through your products and services. To put it simply, self-perception dictates the choices made in life. If you believe you are not worthy of receiving, you will make soft decisions to support that belief. Conversely, if you think yourself reputable and capable, people will make vital decisions to support this belief. It’s important to note that your self-perception influences your actions more than the reality of a situation (or person) itself.

2yMany great insights in this article for anyone who wants to build a strong sustainable business. 🔥 And what you say about most marketers here on LI is so true I had to giggle... my inbox (like everyone else here) gets spammed on a regular basis with "buy my stuff" or "I'll fill up your calendar for you." If they took just 5 mins to scroll my profile they would see I don't do sales calls so the last thing I want is a full calendar. lol. And you're right, these people are just playing the numbers game, chasing the money and hoping someone bites. Many of them aren't interested in learning how to connect & put others first.
