How I made Rs. 2.3 lakhs organically through Linkedin in 35 days.

How I made Rs. 2.3 lakhs organically through Linkedin in 35 days.

Linkedin is a great platform to generate business. But I never tried it. Until 3rd Feb, 2019.

Till then I had only 396 connections, all of whom were college friends.

I knew I have to connect to more people.

As my company Sales5X is into sales training, I had to connect to entrepreneurs and sales managers who were my TG.

But I didn’t have time to send requests.

So I hired a 2nd year engineering student to send requests through my account.

He agreed to do it for Rs. 2,500.

Why should they accept my request?

Well, if I write an impressive message to them while sending the request, there’s a good chance they’ll accept it!

A lot of people ask for business immediately after connecting. Wrong. Horribly wrong.

I knew people are vary of spam. Also, I wanted them to feel good after reading my message. All the while keeping it under 30 words!

Here’s what I wrote -

“Sales is my passion and I want to connect with you so that I get new insights. I promise to not spam you but to just follow your updates”

Let’s dissect it -

Sales is my passion -> pitching on emotion

I want to connect with you so that I get new insights -> made them feel good

I promise to not spam -> reassurance

It took me 3 hours 15 minutes to craft this 2 liner. But it was worth it.

People were responding back with messages like ‘Sure’, ‘Happy to connect’, ‘Let’s meet’.

More importantly, they were accepting my connection request!

Now I knew a lot of them would ‘check me out’ in return - on linkedin and my website.

But…

Linkedin blocked me after every 50 odd requests sent. So I asked my college superman to send it in intervals of 2 hours.

After some time, I ran out of the commercial limit for ‘people browsing’.

Linkedin wanted to push the premium plan.

But hey, 1 month was free. So I took it up. Just for a month :P

I moved from 396 connections to 4000 in about about 30 days.

And it happened. The ‘now warm’ leads wanted to talk to me.

Conversations lead to exploring pain points. Pain points into possible solutions. Solutions into sales training!

Cutting the story short, after 35 days -

I bagged 3 training contracts.

5 entrepreneurs bought my online sales course!

All totalling up to 2.3 lakhs in sales in 35 days. Clean.

Also, I am in talks with a US based company for a year long sales consulting project. If I crack it, I will write another article on it :P

What will I do with the remaining connections?

Nurture them. Add value. Give insights. Talk sense. Build Relationships. Deepen the relationships.

Why? Because it will result in more business in the future!

Moral of the story :

Connect with the right audience on Linkedin.

Build meaning relationship with this audience.

Business will happen as a by-product.

Remember : People don’t like to be sold but they love to buy!

P.S - College kids will do anything for you. Be nice to them.
