How I spend time these days

How I spend my time these days

The internet is full of suggestions on how to spend time in a lockdown. What I am writing here is not about how you can spend time in a lock down. This is about how I spend my time.

1. I generally get up early – often by 4:00 am.

2. I read a few sections from two of my favourite books.

3. I write a couple of pages based on writing prompts (I have book in my kindle which has 1000 writing prompts)

4. It is about 6:00 am. My wife too is awake.

5. I go to the kitchen and assist her in washing vessels. (I am beginning to like this. The last time I did this was when I was a boy scout)

6. Our daughter and grand children come on a WhatsApp call. Enjoy the conversations. Have to listen to the kids and their questions. Amazing.

7. Spend time in my routine meditation/pooja.

8. Check my email/mobile messages. (My mobile is in the drawing room when I go to bed. Good practice suggested by my friend Ambi Parameswaran). I answer all messages/mails.

9. Write an article in LinkedIn. I have started an interview series. Published two so far. These are about former colleagues from my Ogilvy days. There are so many out there doing some amazing stuff. Catching up on that is exciting and a big learning.

10. Then come webinars. I either attend one organized by a friend. (Attended an amazing session by Mr. Amitava Kant, yesterday. Organized by my friend Ramesh Jude Thomas - Equitor fame.) Or deliver one myself.

11. I also get invited to address webinars. Done one on how to cut costs by 50%. (There is a demand building up for this). The Q & A sessions are the most interesting part.

12. Facilitated an online brainstorming session. Task: generating trial for a new brand.

13. I have a webinar coming up on “How to bust mental blocks”. This is an exciting one because I have agreed that I will not be using any presentation.

14. I love colouring books and colouring printed designs. I do colouring for about an hour every.

15. There is a major project assigned to me by a friend. I know what to do. I am yet to start.

16. Sort out all the visiting cards collected over the last 12 months. I have a card reader which will convert them into soft data. Must do that

17. I am trying to organize a database of all clients/prospects/influencers/friends. I am half way there.

18. I have figured out how to send a mail merge message on Gmail.

19. Look at my WhatsApp every 15 minutes – I am part of a few active groups.

20. I go through my book-shelf – many books I am yet to read. Making a shortlist.

21. Discovered some interesting lateral thinking puzzle books. Here is a sample for you “A woman watched her husband plunge head-first, down a deep ravine. She returned home to find him in the kitchen, chopping onions. How is this possible?”

22. Spring cleaning in my office room. Tearing off old irrelevant stuff. Love tearing paper. Feel like a kid doing that.

23. Making/attending phone calls. Not too many.

24. Read the posts in CFI Hub (Coaching Foundation of India site for all CFI certified coaches). I also post something there often.

25. My wife and I watch some old movies on TV.

26. I am ready to hit the bed by 10:00 pm.

No. I am not tired or exhausted. Just sleepy.

PS: Of course we have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Once in a week I step out to buy stuff
