How to Keep Up with Rapidly Evolving AI Technology?

There's a rush, a sense of urgency as if AI has just emerged and is now performing monumental feats. Don't get me wrong; this isn't a critique. On the contrary, I'm here to express my thoughts on how everything is just beginning, and the incredible potential lies in the future. My suggestion? Take a breath, slow down, and advance step by step.

The journey began in 1943, during World War II, with the development of electromechanical devices for cryptanalysis. Fast forward to the 1950s, when Alan Turing laid the foundation for encryption algorithms, and the prototype computers that followed. The AI revolution continued through the 1970s, developed by a small circle of researchers within major computer companies. But the real breakthrough? It happened on November 30, 2022, with the introduce of ChatGPT. Yes, no matter what others may say, the true turning point was ChatGPT, 70 years later.

Is AI being overhyped? Is it doing incredible things? Is it a rival in many human domains? Is this just the beginning? My answer to all these questions is a resounding yes. However, given its exponential growth, it's possible to foresee an AI that surpasses human intelligence in another 50 years.

So, what's the first step? Adapt to these developments and start walking down this path. Do not resist against AI developments. Don’t just pretend to use AI or merely apply it. And in my opinion, the most important thing is to invest heavily in research and development (R&D), to experiment, make mistakes, and start over. Without this approach, it's impossible to keep up with AI transformation.

One final observation: doesn't it seem like the resistance is coming from large corporations and governments, driven by a psychology of competition and fear? All major developments and breakthroughs are initiated by startups and accelerated by investors and visionary organizations that support them.
