How to maintain a creative flow

Artists love to create. ✨

They love to express themselves and to engage with other people's emotions. 💗

We know that inspiration can come in many forms, sometimes unexpected and also, surprising. Here are some tips and tricks to maintain a creative flow and enjoy the moment of bringing an idea to life:

  • ⏺Always have a recording device available - you can write down your ideas, or record them when they come to you. Don't be afraid to do this, sometimes an idea can spark in a public place. All that commotion, energy and seeing multiple people and emotions can boost your inner artist's imagination. So write it down, or record it after it comes to you. You can retreat in a more private spot to develop on the idea
  • 📦Have an idea bank. Sometimes artists tend to be very critical of their creations. They look at them through the lens of perfection, hoping to make every listener happy about their music. We know that perfection is an extremely high target and it can be overwhelming. Give yourself time to adjust each idea after it comes to you. In the meantime, have an idea bank, with all your creations, lovable or not. And get back to them afterwards.
  • 🎧Listen to a lot of music. And we mean- a lot of music, not just one type or genre that fits your style. Experiment and be open to hear other styles too and bands/artists. Discuss with your friends or family about what makes their music pleasant, or what is it that seems to be lacking. What would you do about that song or melody? How would it sound in your mind? If you're a painter, visit many exhibitions, check many paintings. We suggest not getting stuck on one style.
  • 💖Put your heart into it - Originality comes from your inner self. What makes you unique, your own worldview and emotions. And the way you would express them. Play around and see if your lyrics tell the story you want to tell. If people relate to your story, it's because it sounds genuine. So make yourself visible and put your heart into it
  • 💪Get ready for a lot of work. Creating is the fun part, but getting your idea out there and making it spread will be the work you'll need to do. Have a process to follow, and engage with your public. This is when you also get to gather feedback from your audience about the work you've done
  • 👍Recover - Give yourself time to rest and get more inspiration, while the latest piece you've published gathers momentum. Be open to experience and play with many other creative tools. For example, if you're a painter, try experimenting by going to new places and seeing new landscapes. You get to enjoy a trip and gather more material for your future projects
  • 😎Repeat. Don't stop! Creativity is an ongoing process. As you rest, you'll find new ideas sparking, so get your recording device and start all over again
