How to make the next 10 days count without the overwhelm

How to make the next 10 days count without the overwhelm

Whether you are an HR consultant, own a consultancy business, or a coach trying to close business this side of the holidays, there's still time to close sales without feeling you are hustling.

I also want to talk about how to handle those objectives, even if they don't seem like an objective! There are some pretty cute ways of doing that this time of year!

1️⃣ Reconnect with Warm Leads & old Prospects

You know that stack of business cards or list of names you’ve been meaning to follow up with? Now is the time.

  • Action: Send personal emails, ask for updates, or even schedule quick coffee chats.
  • Revisit: All those old leads and prospects who said no earlier in the year. What's new with them?
  • Pro Tip: Keep it light. Wish them a happy holiday season and casually mention availability for new projects in January.

2️⃣ Pitch December Discounts with a Deadline

If you're looking to close deals quickly, offer a “book now, start in January” incentive with a clear deadline.

  • Action: revisit your proposals that you have out there. Reconnect and mention that your pricing will be increasing from January.
  • Example: “I know you were keen to work together; our prices are increasing from January 1st and I'm happy to hold our 2024 prices for you. Shall we reconnect and talk about getting a date in the schedule to start in the New Year?" It's a great way of moving the conversation forward. Who doesn't like to save money?!

3️⃣ Nail Your Pricing for 2025

Let’s be honest: If your services feel underpriced, now’s the time to adjust. Clients aren’t paying for your time—they’re paying for the transformation you bring.

  • Action: Craft simple, outcome-focused packages that make your value crystal clear.
  • Pro Tip: Start higher than you’re comfortable with. Trust me, you’ll be surprised by who says “yes.”

4️⃣ Objection Handling

Give me a 'no' anytime - it's a 'maybe', that will kill a business. Here's a few examples of objections I've had and how I've overcome them:

  • 💬 "That's more expensive than I thought." - Response: "What kind of budget did you have in mind? I'd love to discuss what feels fair for both of us." It might be that you can 1) do split payments or 2) offer to take something out and demonstrate the outcomes you can get for them first and then ask for more budget.
  • 💬 "I need to think about it." - this can be a great way to 'get out of it' without saying no to you. - Response - "Were there any questions you felt I didn't answer for you?" Its a great way to get feedback on how you are selling your services. Finally, "How about we schedule some time to reconnect in the next XXX days so I can best help you make the best decision for you?" You are not being pushy, but you aren't letting them go either!
  • 💬 "I don’t need all of that."Response: "What's the most important goal / challenge for you to fix right now?" It might well be that they just don't understand what's been presented to them.
  • 💬 "Let's talk in January."Response: "Totally fine - happy to chat then. The schedule is starting to fill up with client work, how about XX in January at XX time?" Get them locked in now to talk in January.

Remember, you are having a peer-to-peer conversation with a fellow business owner - it's a conversation to see if you are good fit for one anther!
