Some are using spreadsheets because they are used to it and don't want to change, and others are because the system forces them to do so. But in both cases, they are able to distinguish the Key performance indicators with basic tools available to them on spreadsheets and do the analytics in it. And thus analytics is now defined in many ways including data visualization, machine learning, business intelligence, Pulse dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators. The strain to pick up knowledge from data is unavoidable to such an extent that 'analytics' has turned into a disposable term in advertising materials for a wide range of software, and of course for the above said organizations too.
