How Managers Can Tackle Their Own Mental Health Bias: A Lighthearted List

Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to confront a serious issue with a chuckle and a smile! Yes, you heard that right, we are talking about BIASES AROUND MENTAL HEALTH. As managers, we often think we have it all together, but let's face it, we are human too and sometimes our biases sneak up on us.

Here are some tips to help you tackle those sneaky biases and show your team that you're not just a boss, but also a mental health ally:

  1. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Take a moment to reflect on your own beliefs and attitudes towards mental health. Are they helping or hurting your team?
  2. Do not be afraid to get therapy. Yes, you read that correctly! Even managers need a little help from time to time. By seeking support, you can not only improve your own mental health but also set an example for your team.
  3. Get out of your comfort zone. Try to attend a mental health workshop or event, and learn about the experiences of others. You never know what you might learn!
  4. Spread the love, not the stigma. Share resources and information on mental health with your team and encourage open conversations. The more you talk about it, the less scary it becomes.
  5. Give yourself a mental health break. Whether it's taking a walk, meditating, or just taking a nap, make sure you're taking care of yourself. After all, a happy manager makes for a happy team!

In conclusion, tackling biases around mental health is a journey, not a destination. So, put on your adventurous hat, and let's embark on this journey together! Who knows, you might just discover a newfound appreciation for mental wellness and a happier, healthier you. Cheers!
